if you are feeling paranoid, my advice is not to view codes. Just make sure they are there. That way, anything happens when u view codes. u have a case
edit: thought about this more and it won't work. Since you can only have 3 years on you account at a time (regardless of whether it's core or ultimate), you wouldn't be able to redeem the 4.5 years before converting.
I'd personally wait until getting close to expiration, it's usually pretty easy to find deals like this.
