I have this same set. You have to follow the care instructions to a tee. A few of mine warped, either from cleaning before the pans fully cooled off or uneven heating (too small of a burner). This is the first set ever I've had this problem with Disappointing either way, but I guess it's my own fault for not following instructions.

I had a few pans from this set. Non stick coating started to give in a year. I think that's common with any non stick so don't pay the premium for Calphalon name.

What's a better set? This or the cuisinart set at kohl's? For someone that knows nothing about cooking

the one from kohl's doesn't have the non-stick coating that could end up in your food. up to you if you decide that's bad or not. there's also some learning curve with stainless steel like in the kohl's set; you need to get the pan and oil up to temp before searing, for example (or the salmon skin will glue to the pan haha). non-stick pans are considered consumable depending on how rude you are to them while stainless steel in theory lasts a lifetime.

edit:
my kit is
- a set of stainless steel like the kohl's
- a cast iron skillet
- a non-stick skillet that gets replaced every couple years

the cast iron is most economical and will last forever but has some maintenance. I use that when I'm least lazy. when I am most lazy, i cave and use the non-stick but anything is better than not cooking and getting takeout. i use the stainless skillet when i need to do flippy things, glazes, sauces, etc that don't work great in cast iron.

If it's stainless steel and you are not really really good at cooking then you are most likely gonna get stressed trying to use those. Non stick is the easiest, just use silicone tool or wooden tool and don't be rough with them also hand wash. Cast iron is great but really I use it on the grill the most.
