Well, having only tried them in store, I can tell you at the very least that the Cloud III actually fit my long, fat head. The Alphas were always a few inches too short even at maximum extension.

I love my Cloud II's and only really replaced them when they started getting gross and I am terrible at replacing ear pads so I just bought another one when they were $25 at Gamestop a few years ago and have been using them since. I am a big guy with a huge head and always had headsets crack on me but these things have a beefy metal frame and can take a beating.

Better comfort. Better mic. Worse sound quality, especially the low end.

Can anyone comment on the reliability? I have the cloud 2 wireless and the audio cuts out here and there every so often, sometimes it's to the point that I need to either power cycle the headset or restart my PC to get it working again, which is a pain in the ass when you're in the middle of a game lol

These look super comfy but it's a shame there's no bluetooth. Any headset that goes to the trouble of making the mic detachable should add bluetooth too…

This is a gaming headset, bluetooth would add latency and they would be awful for gaming. All these gaming headsets come with USB dongles to reduce/eliminate the latency. If you've ever tried to use bluetooth earbuds or headphones for gaming you would understand why gaming headsets don't use bluetooth

I want headsets at this price to be more versatile. Gaming and just chilling to music. BT would let me connect to phone / tablets too

FYI the only improvement the Cloud 3 offers is battery life. The sound and microphone quality on the 3's is actually worse than the Cloud 2's. This has been documented in multiple reviews.

I have this headset and can honestly say, don't buy it. The audio constantly shorts and cuts out. When you first turn on the headset the voice will tell you how much battery is left, mine only says 100%. The audio quality is pretty subpar as far as I'm concerned. Spend a little more and get the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7X or the Nova Pro.

My issue with this version is that I can't get the mic monitoring to work. This does not have a hardware mic monitoring built in like the cloud alpha s. It appears to be software based, but since I'm using a company laptop, I can't install the updates without the admin login. I'm stuck with these headphones and that makes this more difficult to use in important meetings as I do rely on mic monitoring.

I must say that I've had these headphones for a couple of years now. The mic died but otherwise the battery is going strong. I use them for work and the battery is charged once every 1-2 weeks.
