Have owned two sets of these (one in white and one in black) both with the S8 sub and the D1 USB DAC for quite a few years now and they have been nothing but awesome! Never given me any issues, used daily, and produce way more sound than I need for PC speakers! I highly recommend them, especially with the S8 sub!

New to the audio speakers world. I have a new built home with prewiring for in wall speakers and in ceiling speakers. Can I use these for in-wall speakers on both sides of the fire place wall where I plan to hang my tv?

they cute lil speakers, but still prefer my JBL 308p's
Anybody have experience with the 5" version, 305P MkII? $198 for a pair on Amazon. JBL-Professional-Next-Generation-Powered-308PMKII [amazon.com]

Specs are similar to the Audioengine A5+ but Class D amp on the JBL's, vs Class AB on the A5+.

I have these speakers in white - I love them. I do need to get the sub still, but can never find a deal on those. I would highly recommend these speakers.

The best deal I found right now is Macy's actually as there was 15-20% cashback....

Is the Bluetooth version worth the extra $100?
I dont think so. It was super easy to just add a cheap USB powered Bluetooth receiver for <$30 from Amazon and it can even be powered by the USB port in the back of the main speaker.

I got their HD6 with S6 sub and D1. I think there are better options for the price.

Thank you so much!

I'm replacing my recently purchased Kanto YU6 for these. I know they're comparable, but the Kanto cost a little more and were only available in bamboo for that price. Not a huge deal, but black is much preferred!

Also, I have an of set of A5s from 10-15 years ago and they're doing just fine - sound is very good. They don't have any wireless input (including remote) so they're no good for main TV. They've been used for basement gym area for the past five years and they work well there.

Edit: dang, just realized these don't have BT. That's a bummer…I don't use the Kanto with BT often, but it's a nice feature! All well, at this price it's still worth the swap.

I've had the original A5 set from 2012. They are still my only speakers that I've been running since then. They are starting to show their age but they are built so well that they lasted this long. I can finally plug the old ones into another rig and buy these new ones. Been waiting for a sale like this for years now. Hopefully I get another decade+ out of these new ones.
Mine are going strong, too, though they've been relegated to the basement due to no remote (can't use for TV), although I tried and they worked well in my large living room for a time. Getting up to manually change the volume got old fast!

When I bought the OG A5s there was a concern about excessive heat causing early failure, IIRC. Mine do get warm, but never hot, even after sustained use. It looks like these bad boys (A5+) have a better solution to that problem.

i bought some edifier MR4 speakers to reply my current klipsch 2.1 set

would these perform noticeably better that warrants over triple the price?
I prefer them over the Edifiers by a significant margin. For one of my later Audioengine purchases, I first tried several Edifiers and ended up returning them all. That said, sounds preferences are subjective.

100% back these speakers. I had a set of the A2s for about 6 years and then upgraded to the A5s about 7 years ago. So roughly 13 years of these speakers, and they've been worth every penny. This is a great deal.

Random, but does anyone have any really good speaker stands that they recommend for these? My monitor is too big now and is stretching past the speakers themselves. I either want them on the sides of the desk or hanging over and above the desk.

I got some used A2's for free several years ago from a friend. Last month, after nearly a decade of perfect service and excellent sound, I dropped my monitor on the left one (which houses the internal amp) and it suddenly started playing very quietly. Devastating.

I emailed Audioengine support, explained the situation, and they offered to send me a replacement rear panel (which includes all of the electronics and amp) for $100. Not only that, but it was an upgrade because it was the rear panel of the newer A2+ with Bluetooth and USB inputs. Hell yes, excellent deal. I received the package, but they had forgotten to send a power supply. I emailed them, they apologized and immediately sent me a second package with the power supply at no extra charge.

10/10 experience. Their customer service was absolutely stellar, and rather than forcing me to trash these excellent speakers they sold me a replacement part for a very reasonable price. They now have a customer for life, I'm looking at Audioengine products first next time I want speakers.

I think the Monoprice stands that I have my A5+ on, are fine. There's also a discount code (CYBER15) for $15. off $50. that still works on the stands I checked.
