Have owned two sets of these (one in white and one in black) both with the S8 sub and the D1 USB DAC for quite a few years now and they have been nothing but awesome! Never given me any issues, used daily, and produce way more sound than I need for PC speakers! I highly recommend them, especially with the S8 sub!

Amazing speakers. Add a musical sub and a Chromecast Audio, and it is a great wireless audio system. Love this deal, but already have 3 pairs!

Love these speakers. I've had for several years and they've been great. Powerful and great sound even without an extra bass. Also any fire tv or Apple TV remote can pair and control the volume.

I've had the original A5 set from 2012. They are still my only speakers that I've been running since then. They are starting to show their age but they are built so well that they lasted this long. I can finally plug the old ones into another rig and buy these new ones. Been waiting for a sale like this for years now. Hopefully I get another decade+ out of these new ones.

I've been using A2s for my PC speakers for like 3-4 years, every other pair of speakers dies - my recent Creatives lasted just a year. Buy and forget.

I've used these for years, and the Promedia 2.1 before that - these are better, although they're not unbeatably amazing at close distance and reasonable volumes. I imagine some studio monitors and a basic amp would be overall better, if less convenient.

I've owned these for a few years now. I hear new details in old music on a regular basis. I can add in my full recommendations well. Two people asked whether they're better than Klipsch 2.1. I can tell you that they probably beat out the Klipsch even without a sub. Each of these have a 5" woofer and are positioned at ear level. Your Klipsch (at least the promedia) have 3" woofers and the sub is 6.5" and generally sits on the floor. Do you get value out of spending three times as much? I'd say the answer to that is subjective, but I can tell you that they are worth spending this sale price of $284 to purchase without hesitation. My disclaimer here is that I'm not an audiophile. But all you have to do is take out my difinitive answer, add in another paragraph of babble and a recommendation to save up and buy some "low end" audiophile speaker brand for $2k instead of either and then I'm an audiophile! Buy 'em. Enjoy. They sound excellent.

Can these pair with the HD6? My passive (R) speaker is going bad, so I'm wondering if I can just add the passive (R) A5 to my powered (L) HD6.

I've had my A5+'s for over 10 years and they are still amazing. The remote wore out and the buttons I press the most broke. They sent a replacement that met the same fate after a few years.

The JBL 308's that are mentioned above also sound good but the major difference is you get a Class A/B amp with the AudioEngine's vs a digital Class D with the JBLs. The Class AB amps will open up and provide more detail as you turn up the gain where the Class D will distort when pushed.

I have a powered tube AMP/DAC behind my A5+s and the warmth and deep soundstage when properly balanced. The level of detail is not too far off from my big speaker 2.1 channel system that cost 20x the $$.

How would you add a sub to these? There doesn't seem to be a sub output.
