I have Game Pass Ultimate but bought this for my son for the Minecoins alone - beats the normal minecoin price by $5 or so and we have a backup copy of the game if we ever cancel GamePass

Pardon my ignorance. Will the game disc box also have a digital code for the game itself?

I understand the minecoins are offered through digital code but not sure about the game.

No digital code for the game. Disc acts as the game key.

any way to get java edition from this deal? or is there any other deal?

we already have this on nintendo switch, and one java key on mac, but we really need another java key to play multiplayer on servers. only way is yet another $30?

Nope. No way to get Java Edition out of this. You will have to purchase an additional license.

You can purchase Java Edition with Xbox gift cards, so if you manage to get a deal on gift cards, that can help reduce the cost.
