You don't. This requires Ubisoft's own proprietary launcher, not steam.

Try claiming from the Uplay/Ubisoft Connect app, worked for me. I have a healthy collection of freebies from Ubisoft over the years Grin

When I got it I clicked on the link, I logged in and it said "The game has been successfully added to your Ubisoft Connect PC library." I didn't have to add it to a cart. I don't believe I even saw the option to add it to a cart.

Don't know if it was the same way in 2021 (probably not?), but currently, it's a bit tricky. Even after you've claimed the giveaway on a web browser, you have to log in to Ubisoft Connect PC, and then click to "add to library" so that the game shows up in the "My Games" section, and not just simply in the "Free games" section.

I think at some point too, Ubisoft announced that if you have an account where you haven't actually used to purchase any games, they'll delete the account if you haven't logged in for a certain period of time.
