Has anyone received email(s) from VUDU they have given free digital movie upgrade from SD/HD to 4K UHD?

I got two emails from VUDU in November 2023, saying that they have upgraded movies from SD or HDX to 4K/UHD!

I know for a fact iTunes has long done this, but did not know Vudu did this.

I got several free when I joined Fandango or Vudu long ago, around 2012 or 2013.

The emails are legit and I checked Vudu and they do show upgraded to 4K UHD on my account!

The three I was alerted to via email were:

Rudy from SD to 4K UHD (got this free back in 2013)

So I Married An Axe Murder SD to 4K UHD (got this free back in 2013)

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. HDX to 4K UHD (bought HDX in 2023 on Vudu).

I didn't get an email. When I open the app, both a Rudy and Axe Murderer say "you purchased UHD," but when I click "play" I can only choose between SD and HDX.

HMMMMM interesting, I always try to watch thru my Apple TV 4K with the Apple TV app, but none of were upgraded since not purchased on iTunes and ported thru Movies Anywhere. I went to play the video thru Vudu website on my 2021 MacBook Pro which has the ability play 4K videos, but only options are SD and HDX at the menu in the bottom right of the screen.

I do not have Xcode nor want to install on my Mac to enable the Developer menu on the Apple TV 4K to see what resolution is playing.

On the Vudu app on the Apple TV 4K it is listed as 4K UHD, but do not know which definition is playing, does not have the bottom menu to select the resolution like the Vudu website.

But you got actual emails saying they were being upgraded, right? This is quite the mystery...

What were the titles of the emails? Just in case my search missed them.

Thanks! I indeed missed some emails in my first search. I got one for Rudy and one for both Axe Murderer and Last Action Hero. I got these all for free, too. Weird. Wonder why I can't choose UHD playback on the app.

It is real been happening to others on the vudu forum. Great. All seems to have been purchased on Vudu or Fandango or given those free movies from either too.

Does not appear to transfer to MA or iTunes, the UHD just stays on VUDU.

I am not sure, when I have time I will call VUDU and see if they can help. Their customer service is awful and incompetent, can not do much and they send to supervisor that does not call back as promised. I call back and have to repeat everything again. So frustrating!
