what better value this or the knipex version that I saw on here a couple days ago??
Knipex will make you a pro very easily. These are harder to become pro.

bought it for 9.59 in march 2021, so 10.99 is ok.
Used it for several jobs, works well , pretty solid and still like new.
With inflation the $9.59 you spent in 2021 is equivalent to about $10.90 today. So a 9 cent difference.

The Knipex for four times the price is definitely the better value
Watch The Farmer's testing. Erwin and Knipex tested at the top.

The 7" model with the spring assisted opening is way better. Manual opening is really a 2 handed job and more difficult than closing the strippers. It also has a better plier tip for pulling wire or tape. You're way better off spending the extra $1.

Speaking of wire strippers, the following model is my favorite. I have been using it for a few years and can certainly recommend it over anything else: https://slickdeals.net/f/17121736-irwin-vise-grip-wire-stripper-2-inch-jaw-cuts-10-24-awg-19-99-at-amazon

I have the Southwire model and it's less than 2 years old. Cutting wires doesn't seem to be a problem, but getting a clean strip seems to be getting more and more difficult. Maybe because I loaned it to a friend and they destroyed it?

Had a pair from Milwaukee earlier but lost it somewhere and can't find it.

That doesn't change the fact that it's better.

Only downside to the Southwire model (good brand) is it can't crimp like these Irwin.

That said, I've wired up a 48x32 shop with countless outlets upstairs and downstairs with these and they're great. Maybe it's because I have big hands but I don't miss the spring loaded (have a pair with it I don't use) and no tradesman ever use the "auto" strippers if that tells you anything. No rust to speak to but I'm fairly careful with my tools.
