I don't see too many comments from users that actually purchased this particular deal... so here's my short story:

Purchased this and Woot sends you the code hidden in a shipping confirmation email (the license key is the tracking number). I almost didn't notice it at first! Immediately tried the code since I needed it for a new build, and it didn't work. "The digital activation and/or product key you have entered is invalid."

Promptly sent Woot a message saying it didn't work, and I got my refund. I bought another key since then from a different seller, and it worked fine.

As others have mentioned, do NOT hoard these since Woot will not do anything for you months down the road when you happen to try it.

Very likely grey market. but who knows for sure.
all I can say for sure is no true authorized reseller/genuine product ever have issues with keys not working....and all these woot/stack social "deals" seem to always have issues for some people where the license doesn't work/is marked used/invalid etc.
It's a minority who have issues- so I am certain there will be the white knight defenders of "this worked for me, 3 years going strong!"

Woot has undisclosed 3rd party sellers for much of the stuff on their site now. So in all likelihood this is some Key site/market selling an abused Volume License key via Woot at a markup.

It will probably work for most people immediately, and may well work indefinitely. but if you're going to go semi-legit, you can get cheaper elsewhere

If you're feeling creative (or in a bind like your friend), you can use Rufus to create a bootable USB drive (using the Win11 ISO in this OP's Deal) that bypasses the system requirements for WIndows 11, allowing you to run it on 'unsupported' hardware.

Just for kicks, I did this on a old Dell Optiplex from 2007, and it worked just fine.

Just make sure to check if the current laptop meets the hardware requirement for Win 11 install. Easily check by installing "PC Health Check app" on it and confirm.
My friend got danged due to this.

Top 10 Google results for "windows 11 key" gave me multiple options. not sure which are on Slickdeals unpublished blacklist so I won't put links that will get this nuked.
Windows 10 pro key should be equivalent since you can upgrade too.

If you buy this Windows key do you also get Office included?
A very well-paid executive at Microsoft decided one day during his round of golf that you should pay a separate additional license fee if you want to actually be able to type a letter on your expensive new computer.

Then he smiled, rubbed his palms together, and chose his club for that next chip shot.

Used to be available on eBay for $3 but looks like they are catching on cleaning them up there.

There is still alternative websites where you can get it for less than $5 but obviously can't link them here.

Anyone know if you can pay to upgrade from Home to Ultimate?
You may be thinking Pro; however, while you can't use this key to upgrade editions, but… on my laptop, which came with Windows 10 Home, I was able to purchase the key, put it into the laptop, then it said I had to use the dial-in method to activate, then did that process. Or I talked to a live person? Either way, it worked and I honestly don't think they really care either way.

Thinking back, I believe I did indeed speak with a live person. Super easy, just gave him the key via their weird activation UI method and they greenlit it on their end. No issues at all, though.

I would and did back in windows 7 day. I probably went through over a dozen motherboards since that time. Granted the upgrades have been free so I only had to pay that higher price once.
Replacing a motherboard does not invalidate an OEM license. It will re-activate on a different motherboard automatically as long as it has been 6 months since the previous activation. If you replace your motherboard more than once in 6 months, you just call them up and they'll read you a code (99% of the time without any questions asked).

And once you've upgraded your Win7 license to Win10, it is practically the same thing, whether you started from an OEM key or a retail box.

I mean you dont really want ur comp to deactivate some day randomly esp in professional settings, grey market codes can just deactivate randomly if Microsoft finds out.

oh lord, who in their right mind would pay $200 in this day and age with all the other options like this.
I'm sure there always going to be a valid edge case, but why do we care?
