I watched a Mathias wandel YouTube test video on infrared heaters. The style with the metal cover like in the first two pics, weren't the best as they lost a lot of heat to the cover. The open one type in the 3rd pic did well in the tests

Does this 1500 watt model put out more heat than the $25 Walmart bathroom special heater that's also 1,500 watt if two heaters one heater is $100 the others $25 and they both put out 1500 watts which one is more efficient

Mathias is great but this heater isn't the same as what he tested. The grill and and casing of this heater is plastic and thanks to the fan blowing the hot air away from the heater the grill stays only warm to the touch. I have both the same metal-grilled heater he tested and 4 of these Heat Storms and the latter are much more efficient at heating a space.

We bought this last year on Woot for our basement (my wife works from home down there) and it has been a great addition. The space is approx 700 sq ft of finished space with a tile floor. The heater does a great job maintaining the temperature, but not necessarily raising it. We've found that if we run the HVAC to get up to 68 and then set this to 70, it will hold 68 for a few hours before needing to have the big system come back on.

Because some of our back rooms (including my office) don't heat up as much during the day, I think we are gonna consider getting one more!

When it is fully on, I might have to turn the TV up 1 or 2 clicks to maintain the volume, but it really is not too loud.

Fairly quiet. There is a fan noise, but you get used to it pretty quick. I had one of these in a bedroom and had no problem sleeping with it on.

I have the smart 1500 model in a guest room that is perpetually cold due to its location. This works well. Guests can comfortably adjust with the remote, and I can remotely monitor and control with the app.

Fan noise is not bad at all. Can definitely sleep through it. I had a place to mount it on a wall, but that's not always an option for people, so keep that in mind.

This is exactly why I am buying a 2nd unit. Our farthest away bedroom on the main level is constantly cold due to how our house is setup and the location of the thermostat. This way, we can keep people comfortable without having to keep the big HVAC running all night.

They are the same overall heat. The difference is an ir heater warms anything the light touches. The Walmart heater warms the air.

An ir heater is great in a garage because it will heat you while you walk around it. The Walmart heater only heats you if your standing in the air

Most of the ones on this deal (and the first 2 linked) I think are just functioning as regular heater that blow out hot air rather than using infrared energy to heat you directly. This is indicated by the presence of a fan, and the visible heating element being really small.

I've been looking at a way to keep my unheated but insulated mud room warm during the winter months (New England). I've always been concerned with burning down the house…

Are these safe ro run all day with minimal supervision? Or should they be used more as space heaters and monitored at all times?
