I watched a Mathias wandel YouTube test video on infrared heaters. The style with the metal cover like in the first two pics, weren't the best as they lost a lot of heat to the cover. The open one type in the 3rd pic did well in the tests

Does this 1500 watt model put out more heat than the $25 Walmart bathroom special heater that's also 1,500 watt if two heaters one heater is $100 the others $25 and they both put out 1500 watts which one is more efficient

Mathias is great but this heater isn't the same as what he tested. The grill and and casing of this heater is plastic and thanks to the fan blowing the hot air away from the heater the grill stays only warm to the touch. I have both the same metal-grilled heater he tested and 4 of these Heat Storms and the latter are much more efficient at heating a space.

This is perfect for my kitchen which has a small addition that seems like it's got zero insulation underneath it. In for one. Thanks OP!

Snagged one of the black wall-mount ones. Hoping the thermostat works fairly well on this one. I'm also assuming that once it reaches temp, it completely turns off right? (no fan noise at all)

That's right. It will cycle on and off as needed. The fan continues to run for ~60 seconds after the element shuts off but will eventually power down as well.

Which Walmart heater for $25 comes with WiFi control ? Curious if I should get that instead
Connect it to a 15 amp Smart plug which is probably around 10 bucks and now you have remote capability for the cheap Walmart space heater.

I have a 1 week old sleeping in a walk in closet and it's getting really cold there at night. I want to heat the room but little nervous about space heater in a small 50sf room… I am so paranoid thinking about putting a smoke detector above the heater just in case… thoughts??

I bought the wall mounted 1500 watt one about a year ago from woot. It's in my 2 car attached garage.
I have to say it's one of the best purchases I made in 2022.

It warms the garage up to be comfortable to work in. I use the wifi feature quite a bit. The temperature setting is off about 4 degrees, but it's not an issue.
I can't really speak to the noise it makes. It's not loud, but I definitely know when it's on.

Dreo's wall-mounted unit (similar smart features and remote, oscillator, better reviews) is on sale for $110. The $125 version has a hairdryer-style plug suitable for bathrooms. I've had very good experiences with Dreo products, it was worth the extra $20 to me.

I have an older Lasko CT22766 1500 watt ceramic heater. It doesn't do a very good job of heating my bottom floor. Would this be a significant upgrade?

If 1500W is enough to heat the air in the space, any convection model will work. If it's not (big garage, low temps, holes everywhere), you might prefer an infrared model that heats you rather than the air. It requires line of sight to the heating element.

I have used this for about 2 years now. I love it. It heats the bedroom pretty quickly. It's quiet and have had no issues. I mounted it on the wall and just leave it up all year round. But unplug it during the summer. Would highly recommend
I bought 1500 Watt Phoenix WiFi Enabled Heater

For anyone with the non-wifi version of the infrared heater, are the controls remembered if the heater is turned off?

I'm trying to determine if a smart plug will suffice and allow simple on/off control with the temp settings already set.

I wonder if this would be ok for a basement, although I'm guessing it doesn't have a low temp range. I want to get something you can set to 35 F to keep pipes from freezing.
