these were just released today and Ubiquiti is doing a good job of bringing them in and out of stock, if you want to buy one directly from Ubiquiti they are in stock right now. I think it's a pretty slick deal to have this device for less than $150. posting this because I know a lot of people have alerts and they may not even know this device was released today, I know I didn't.

Basically. I haven't read into them yet, but right off the bat I'm wondering how these differ from the Dream Routers and why those are $50 more. Is it just for the built in POE switch ports?!

Exactly my thoughts. I was about to buy a Dream Router, might wait to see what this does differently.

This is really for situations where you just need a small deployment - think VPN for work from home, POS deployment, remote building, and also for an ISP that wants an all in one solution for clients.

60 client max
1 Ethernet port on the back with no PoE. Not 4 like a typical router.
Gigabit Ethernet in (not 2.5gb) (many gigabit plans overprovision and you get 1.2 gigabits instead of 940 megabits using a 2.5gb port - 21% more internets for free!!

Make sure it is a good fit for you because a lot of homes I do tech help in have a Roku or smart TV or desktop or ip phone dongle or some combo of those so you need a switch or to buy something better right off the bat if you want a hard wired AP on the other side of the house.

This is good for apartments IMO

That and I'm going to put one at my parents house so I can manage their Network. Those are the two best use cases I can think of for this.

From what I have gathered so far, this UniFi Express is basically having controller and uxg lite combined minus the IDS/IDP functionality but plus Wifi 6 AP. It's a dual band 2x2 wifi 6 AP so likely similar in performance to U6+. The UDR has U6 LR AP, two POE ports, and can run additional application like Protect and Talk with the built in controller.

Per Reddit, you're better off with a GL.net router that supports portal logins that most hotels have.

Get the GLINET Beryl AX, it's periodically on sale here and works great for travel.

You need to host or pay to host the controller. Also different than the DR since different product line and no wifi.

Ummm, look at tech specs, it has wifi6 2x2, can be accessed via UniFi.ui.com, and is even able to be added to site magic. Not sure where you get this info from.
