It's worth noting that it's UL 1278-tested and not UL 1278 certified. To be fair, even some mainstream manufacturers skip out on certification but space heaters that fail to protect properly are fire hazards.

I got the oscillating version of this and I like it a lot. I use the WiFi controls to make sure the room my hedgehog is in stays warm enough.

It's Remotely Control via App & Voice. So unfortunately you would use your phone, or Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, no physical remote control.

I guess I paid too much ($30). I just got it and is not bad, but the ones I've got from Costco that I paid almost double for heat of my little office much faster and keep it warm. In the long run this will be more costly since I have to run them much longer to warm up my office. $48-58c KWh adds up quick with these little things.

I guess this is great if you want a heater that is like almost right next to you and you want to feel warm, not a lot of air is blown out.

Depends on the usage. If you're planning to heat a house or very large area, it would cost more to use this rather than a gas fired furnace. And it probably wouldn't do the job very well. If, however, you need to heat a small area to avoid frozen water pipes such as a bathroom in the winter, it would be much cheaper to heat 50 square foot or less with this versus 2000 square foot of an entire house with gas. My plan is to use it in the former scenario.

ROFL, good try at trolling son. I'll have your mom bring you a sandwich downstairs in a minute. Were you refering to my lazy generation that made the PC that is on the internet that you are using now. Applause

I'm bored so I will answer you question . Yes I would rather have individual remotes for everything located at convienent places. My individual remotes don't
1. spy on me
2. advertise to me
3. need me to log in to use them ( No need to use my thumbprint or type a code like a phone does)
4. I don't need to scroll thoough 47 apps to get to the particular remote I want to use.
5. When I use my individual remote it doesn't need an update and a EULA agreement that wants to view my photos and all of my contacts!
6. I don't have to pair it!
7. Anyone can use it
7. if my internet goes down my individual remote still works!
8. not every single business in the world and every single product in my house needs wifi access.
9. my individual remotes can't be hacked!
And I thought reading SD was going to be boring today!!!
Loved the banter back and forth.
BTW, agree with most of your points. The problem with remotes in our house is that they become like socks and get "lost".

I did buy the heater last week but haven't used it yet. Hopefully it'll live up to the hype.

"Smart Space Heater"

Thinking about those 3 words in a sentence, what exactly comes to mind for you? I mean, what is "smart" about a thermostatically controlled heater? It works the same old way that it ever did! WiFi is not smart, it's just a remote control feature the same as any remote control ever was. What do you folks think is smart about this hot box with a fan? Just curious.

getting up to go to the living room to get the remote (cell phone) to control something in the bedroom defeats the purpose of having a remote. Unless your phone is never on a charger!
It's got controls on the heater itself. Am I missing something?

UL Listed?

Any safety ratings at all?

Product description shows "UL 1278-tested"...

Totally agree. I'd also add that electric blankets are great option for heating with minimal electricity cost.
Our personal go-to for the family space is a Japanese kotatsu we imported, it's a low-slung coffee table covered by a fitted futon (blanket). Strip heater warms only the air under the table, so your lower half is toasty under the table, while the futon insulates and contains the warm air without having to heat the rest of the room - typically only 50-60 watts since it's such a small volume of air.

But you have to sit on the floor Asian-style, so really more for older Japanese homes that lack proper insulation...

Try an electric blanket as someone else mentioned. Even a throw. They use very little electricity relative to any space heater and provide better comfort to one body versus trying to heat up an entire room and keep it at a higher temperature.

Yeah definitely not buying until it gets closer to those prices again
You'll have to wait til near the end of winter like that post was. I won't need one that late since it gets too hot for a heater here and the end of Feb. But it'll be nice to grab one for the following winter.

It barely gets below 30 around here now. We haven't seen it dip into the teens in 5 or 6 years.

Smart devices are more likely devices with IoT technologies. They are connected to internet and you can control remotely or set up routines to control them instead of controlling them by yourself one by one. Mostly people don't utilize all features of them but on the other hand, the manufacturers don't provide enough APIs to let one software(Alexa, Google home or Apple home) to control all devices. For example, you have a lot of settings from app of this heater and it can be linked to your Alexa skills, but in Alexa you can only turn it on or off. If you want to change fan speed/heating temperature, you need to go back to its app or use voice commands to Alexa.

I'm too much of a thermostat nazi to let my family have control of a device like this. They'd all have their rooms set to 85F 24/7.
Wouldn't this let you set your house/common area temp lower if they have thier own heater you cheap bastard
