This is such a good printer. The print quality is really nice and better than the Instax. It also ages very well especially if you're used to Zink which is poor quality and where the photo ages very poorly (discolored within 6 months).
The prints are also very large and on sticker paper.
The only negative is the app makes it hard to know how the image will come out if you adjust the image (like zooming in and out). So I often end up just adding things to the image like text or graphics and then printing the image as-is. It's great for a group situation where everyone sends their pics to the person that has the printer and you get instant photos.

I'm not sure I would debate between this printer and doing prints in-store as you would probably do better with a higher-end Selphy printer or an inkjet printer. Those would be a better comparison.
This printer uses sticker paper and is a dye sublimation printer. It's more for those spontaneous moments or group situations like being in a restaurant and wanting prints right at that moment. But it's still high quality especially when you compare to Zink printers. And it's better than the Instax cameras because most smartphones produce better photos and the better the photo, the better the print quality.
