You are correct. Klipsch's subwoofer model numbers are confusing. They have the R models with numbers like 120, 12SW, 112, and 121. The 120, 12SW (and this r-100) are basic, entry level models. The R models 112 and 121 are much better premium models, reflected in their price. Then they have the RP and SPL models with similar numbers associated with them. Very, very confusing for customers.
Long story short, the "good" 10" klipsch's are the r-110, spl-100, and rp-1000.
The person who said the rp-1600 subwoofer reviewed by audioholics is in the same "line" as this 10" model is simply wrong.
I'll revise my statement… Audioholics doesn't bother reviewing the entry level "R" models. The R-121 is a premium model that klipsch oddly decided to put in the R line. The equivalent 10" model is the R-101SW, not this R-100.

$160 vs $450. Nothing wrong with the Klipsch in this deal, especially at this price. It reviews well and is a good price.
I just purchased this sub to pair with my Klipsch reference 5.25in bookshelf speakers for my computer setup that are hooked up to a Klipsch Powergate amp. By this logic I should've just purchased a 2nd SVS SB13-Ultra like I have for my 10 speaker Atmos setup.
Unless someone has had both of these in their system (which is a very long shot), or there are detailed reviews with measurements out there, no one can compare them with each other. You could try buying from places that have free return shipping and try them yourself. That's why unless you like to take chances and do your own thing it's best to stick with a sub that has a lot of feedback from people that have had experience with various subs to compare it to.
