Definitive technology has gone downhill ever since Chet in their service department left. I've had the supercube iii, bp,8000 series and bp9060s. The plate amps on all of them failed and the low end disappeared. They're many threads about this so I'd do some research before pulling the trigger. From what I've gathered, def tech uses cheap capacitorss that fail and put a butt load of glue all over their amp boards. So it's not a matter of "if" they fail, it's more "when" it fails. I've stopped supporting this brand and switched go svs due to their incredible after-sale support. Def tech on the other hand refuses to acknowledge this manufacturer flaw and has done nothing about it. They claim their new "demand" series (DM--) have "redesigned" amps, but I have yet to hear what exactly is different now.
⚠️ Proceed with caution. ⚠️
Not sure about the rest of your statement, but Chet was a great dude! The single time I had an issue with one of my SCs, he paid to ship it round trip for inspection and service... that was like 15 years ago now, but it stands out in my mind as a rare commitment to a customer (me).

I Have some JBL studio 590 I'm thinking of replacing with these. Anyone know if that's an upgrade or not? Mostly movies watching.

I would look at upgrading subs or something else. Those JBL's are solid.

Not a sound guy. Would these work by themselves with my TV? do i need any other equipment, or just plug and play? Thanks.

The klipsch r-26pf and 28pf absolutely do dip shit. They are powered and have a high failure rate and before they fail they hiss audibly. klipsch had to make a tutorial to swap the amps but that only prolonged death. https://support.klipsch.com/hc/en...al-Process

I have Polk Audio rti8 from 2017. I think they're these. https://www.crutchfield.com/S-8V3...herry.html

I have a polk audio csi a6 center, 4 polk audio fxi a6 sides rears, 4 polkaudio vt60 ceilings. Two svs pc2000 subs. The towers are on a 2ch Emotiva Amp and the rest are powered by my Denon x4500h.

It works great for my room.

But I'm really tempted by these. Only worried about crossing brands.

Lol. You're SO sensitive 🤣 I honestly thought your post said "these" rather than "those".
Regardless… Don't buy any tower speakers with built in amps. They will fail prematurely.

Would these sound okay with a Klipsch center?
Timbre on the 3 would be terribly mismatched by a mile!
