This should be the new regular price.

I bought this early in the Spring at $1299.
Worth every penny.
Running 7.3.4 Atmos setup with an 85" TV.
The immersion factor with the heights is amazing. Sonos, sound bars & such cannot compete with a proper AVR setup.

These are very similar feature wise. Obviously the amps are the upgrade. But in most people's use cases they would be better off getting separates any way

I switched to sonos a few years back due to the avr price gouging and issues with hdmi 2.1.
Apples and oranges. Avr price increases were due to a chip factory fire and other supply chain issues. They're finally getting back to "normal". HDMI 2.1 is for gamers. I don't game.
Sonos is overpriced. And no in ceiling speakers. Sonos screwed a lot of ppl when they abandoned their older speakers, etc.

I agree Sonos is overpriced but I really have been enjoying their integration with my smart home. But hell a decent unpowered center channel is easily $400 and a refurb ARC is $500. Sonos amp for in ceiling & sub. I do this now. Yes it is BS what they did with their earlier app & product line. I wasn't a customer back then. I get what you're saying about chip shortage but at work I don't get to shovel excuses for lacking performance so why should I give them a pass. Anyways I was a huge AVR advocate for a decade and scoffed at friends (sell outs) who went with Sonos. I've been pleasantly surprised. Is it perfect…no. Is it good enough, yes.

Genuinely curious how you isolate all those decibels from the rest of the house. I have mine in the basement and 24" of insulation between the 2x12s and then Hemasote board and then drywall and it still makes it upstairs. I had no ceiling penetrations other than 6 can lights which were encased. I wish my home had the "bonus" room over the garage but then that room would get hot.
This room is wired 7.3.4 like yours but I switched to Sonos as previously mentioned and sold my Klipsch RP fronts. The heights are on wall to keep the sound in the room.

Short answer is…. I don't. 😁
Very understanding wife who enjoys the system as well. No basement or bonus room. This is all in our main living room!
You can hear/feel the bass all through the house when we really start watching something. (3 X PB2000s bought before prices got stupid)
Would I like a dedicated theater room? Yes.
But, the kids will soon be graduating & our house is almost paid for. So, is what it is.

No one is asking you to give anyone a pass. The factory fire, worldwide supply shortage on just about everything, cargo ships that couldn't unload for weeks, and associated price increase were real. They weren't excuses. They were facts. Lots of ppl like Sonos and other smart speakers. Great.
A modern avr is a radio tuner, audio switcher, surround sound processor, digital to analog converter, audio streamer, video switcher, amplifier, room equalization, phono preamp, video up converter, etc.
You complained about avr hdmi 2.1 issues. How many hdmi 2.1 sources does Sonos handle?

You're right. They are different products. I'm just saying I was pushed a direction due to production issues you and I mentioned. X3800 seems like an excellent purchase but I already moved on to something else that gives me the bar, rears, heights and sub.

Good price. I picked this up for 889.00 at NFM, but it won't ship until the end of the month.
