The most noticeable difference will be the difference between the non-laminated (10th gen. iPad) and the laminated (5th gen. iPad Air) displays. The latter is noticeably sharper, but at the same time gives me an eye strain that I don't with the standard iPad. Experience will vary, so I'd play around with each in the stores before buying.

As for the difference in the processor, iPad OS isn't exactly the best at taking advantage of the M1. They don't feel zippy in the same way the M1 does in MacBooks. Unless you really want Stage Manager I wouldn't make it a major deciding factor.
Given the size of updates, I don't think 64GB is a good size, constantly have to delete and reinstall larger apps when there is a major update with this size and will get more storage next time.
Well, the $130 extra is getting you: -one generation better chipset, 1GB more RAM, USB-C, and more modern bezel design. But you are losing the headphone jack and paying $130 more. So up to you.

M1 air should have it. Just make sure you go with much higher storage.

How does the os work with external storage? Are apps able to use USB storage seamlessly or is there a lot of manual file moving? I'm specifically interested in music apps like GarageBand. Thanks.

I wish they offered this in 128GB like the Pro models 64GB is not enough for many users unless you have minimal apps and don't have much pictures. 256GB option is nice but not $150 nice. At that point I'd just rather get a Pro model with standard 128GB storage for $699. It would be a sweet deal if these were being sold with 128GB storage at $399 that's a sweet spot.
