I just people would give a little why. I'm on an older version of Madden because there's no improvements and I don't want to lose my franchise. Is it something similar with this or what?

Same content. Everything is microtransactions to level or you have to spend 10s of 100s of hours to progress to level up your character. Pretty much a pay-to-win game that's prevalent on mobile titles. Gacha game mechanics for cards. Netcode is terrible still where you will try to play with others online and clients and server are desync'd like crazy where inputs are delayed or don't register at all. It's just a cash grab at this point.
It all depends why and how you want to play it. Having said that, they have been doing almost nothing to this game in years to really improve it. Most of the changes go to game modes they use to monetize online players.
