Not sure how good of a deal it is but seems similar to the Litter-Robot 3 Connect Clean Bundle on the litter robot website which goes for $748. This is not the latest model but for $499, it may be a good time to try it out!

If this was a 4 I'd probably bite! I already picked one up about 6 months ago and it's one of the best purchases I've made. Up there with a nice robo vac/mop/dock. Saves so much time, so much cleaner.

Did you pick up the 3 or 4? I'm a bit on a budget. Is this a decent price for the 3?

Good deal on the 3, especially with Costco's return policy.

If you want the Litter Robot 4, there's a deal at PetSmart as long as you're okay with cash equivalents.

Sign up for a PetSmart account and go to your account page and the Treats & Offers section. Scroll through the offers and you should see one for 40,000 treats points with a Litter Robot purchase. You also get 5599 base points for the purchase, so that works out to $114 in store credit. You get the points once the product ships, but your cart will not reflect the bonus points at checkout.

Popular cash back site has 20% back, and Litter Robot is not excluded (per terms of the site, and personal experience).

Stack with Chase Freedom cards 5% back via Paypal. Brings the effective price down to around $410 pre-tax.

A couple notes: You do not get the 90 day in-home trial if you order from PetSmart (or any 3rd party). PetSmart says they only offer store credit for returns if Paypal was the payment method used, but someone said they called to return it and because it was drop-shipped and not directly from PetSmart, they got free return shipping and a full Paypal refund. YMMV.

Just came here to say that if you have multiple cats and can't sit there and scoop a litter box, every few hours this thing is worth every penny. I've had one for two years with three cats and it works great. I suggest the arm and hammer clump and slide litter With this litter box.

How did you get your cats to use the litter robot. My cats will not use it

I have owned every version of the litter robot, multiples at times, and they always develop sensor and control panel issues.

I wonder if this falls under the Costco lifetime policy.

I had that issue with 2 cats years ago. It takes time if they are scared.. unplug it and use it as a normal litter box. Put in some used litter from a normal litter box so they have the scent. Once they go in a few times then turn it on with them in the room closed in and cycle it a few times so they get used to the noise and movement. May take some time.

Cats can be finicky...most of mine were curious and went right in and never had issues so it depends.

On the plus side, Litter Robots are very user-serviceable, and they'll sell you pretty much any part you need once you're out of warranty (and most at reasonable prices). Also a lot of info out there on fixing many issues without replacement parts. Even with troubleshooting time, I still save a LOT of time over scooping.

You can buy the $100 3 year warranty directly from Whisker even if you buy the machine itself from a 3rd party. Do note that the 3 year warranty is 3 years total, not 1 year (original) + 3 years. But since only year 1 is factory warranty, your credit card warranty won't cover a 4th year, so it's really only 1 extra year for $100 -- though dealing directly with Whisker is likely easier than your credit card.

have a LR4 thats about to go back to LR (at my cost, should have read the return policy...). tried everything to get the cats to use it. they climb up, look in but will not use it. Been 2 months.

If you have a choice, dont get black. It looks disgusting within minutes of plugging it in.

My LR3 has been sitting in my garage for 2 years. Got like 5 years out of it, it was never at any point reliable, and would often get hung up midcycle.

My advice: Switch to wood litter and never look back. Clay litter ruins vacuums and gets tracked all over the house.

Ideally, Pine Bedding designed for horse bedding, you can get it at a Tractor Supply. It is very cheap.

If your cat is older and doesn't like the texture of Pine Pellets, then Okocat Original or Super Soft.

We have a LR3, going on 2.5 years now. I purchased it for a little bit more on sale.

We have two cats, a larger male and average size female. The tray requires emptying about once per week.

It's a pain in the butt to clean thoroughly. We do very deep cleans about twice a year (everything apart, soaking with enzyme cleaners). Spot cleaning of it/specific parts more frequently as needed.

It does a good job of masking odors 9-10 months of the year. When it gets warmer it gets noticeable and requires more attention; but to be fair we don't have it in a zone that gets cooled as much as other parts of the house. Keep this in mind when you choose where to place it and what temps you keep your house at.

For us, it only slightly limits litter tracking. Our cats have long hair and tufts, so litter gets stuck sometimes. They also don't use the steps to the LR, they jolt out of it. We have an old rug under it and an old vacuum we use to clean the vicinity.

Overall I would recommend it, it's worth the time savings and ease of emptying.

We have had a v3 for about 3 years. I love it, but I'm not sure if I would get it again. It's great when it works, especially considering one of our cats likes to roll around in it (looking at you, Ellie!), but we've had a lot of issues with it getting stuck and sensors that would just quit. We've replaced pretty much every part of it (definitely get the extended warranty). It's close to being great, but the many issues ruin it a little bit. Also, like the other commenter said, deep cleaning it is a bitch.

That's the major pain point of the robots ... When they work it's a big help. The issue is they far too often develop sensor issues with flashing multiple color lights causing it to never rotate, or get stuck midway, etc.

There are many threads and vids out there on trouble shooting out there for various issues but for the price of these, they aren't reliable. Some of the design choices of the sensors almost make it seem like it's done on purpose.
