Sorel was once a trusted manufacturer of boots. However, Columbia bought them out and moved their manufacturing from Canada to China. The quality of their construction and materials plummeted. You used to be able to get 20 years or more out of a pair of Sorel boots. Now, you're lucky to get 3. The rubber they use now begins to dry out and crumble after 2 or 3 years. I had a pair of Sorel Conquest boots that this happened to. Others have had similar experiences.
I have a pair of these w/leather uppers that are 27 years old. Got them in Alaska and they keep my feet toasty warm.
Old Sorels are very different than the Chinese ones nowadays. I still have my original Sorels I learned to snowboard in over the mid 80's before Burton made specialized boots for snowboards. The old school Sorels are irreplaceable, meaning you cannot get those high quality boots anymore.

Agree. Had some of my favorite boots just tear apart. Such a disposable society we live in now.

Sadly, more and more show manufacturers are doing this. Nobody seems to care about quality.
I'm huge on Goodyear welted boots and it's crazy how some manufacturers are now slipping in cheaper soles on their boots while pretending they are high quality. It's sad because you can get a decade or more out of a high quality pair of leather Goodyear welted boots but most people don't know it.

Here's the thing, people don't want to pay $400 for the US or Canada made product. To meet the price point where people would actually buy their boots, they sent the process overseas. It is what it is.

The boots you are picturing are a different sorel boot. Which incidentally have been made overseas since 2000.

My last pair lasted nearly 30 years.
