A decent deal with install but I've heard simple tire stores lots of old tires that tend to have the sidewll crack 2 years after install. Sure, this might not be the case for everyone, but after experiencing tires with sidewall cracks 2-3 years after install, I've decided that irs better to either pay a little extra from America's tire with their warranty or to go with a supplier that go through popular tires much quicker (eg. Walmart). I never seemed to be able to make use of majority of the tread before the warranty period and Costco wasn't willing to prorate the tires when the sidewalls started cracking.

I really wanted to like this deal. These tires have a load rating of 88. I think the 2nd gen Prius uses 88 load rating. The 3rd generation Prius uses 89 load rating and that can be a problem. DOES ANYONE HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH THE LOAD RATING PROBLEM. CAN I EVEN GET FREE ROTATIONS FROM COSTCO IF I DO NOT BUY FROM THEM?

I would check the age of the new tires and any tires you are concerned with. I found this article.

All the Costcos near me will NOT install any tires that aren't purchased from them. They used to install them about 10 years ago but they all stopped at some point and it wasn't even that cheap before. My local America's Tire is the way to go for the best price, speed, convenience, and customer service compared to any other tire shop. The smaller tire shops near me want 2x what America's Tire charges.

As for tire dry rot, yes, it looked pretty severe after just 2-3 years, probably level 4 and just before level 5. I've had tires that don't develop dry rot for 7-8 years mainly because they were so fresh from the factory and wasn't sitting in some midwest warehouse at 110 degree during the summer or sitting outdoors in the sun all day. If you buy 1-2 year old tires, there's a high chance it was stored in one of these warehouses since the cost for storage is so low.
