Laptop deals for college students

I need to replace laptops for two college students. I used to be the person that would give this advice, but that was a long time ago and I need some help.
One needs to run adobe photoshop. They may need occasionally to take with them to campus but not all the time. Doesn't need to be a gaming machine although you know how it is, there will likely be some moderate game usage.
Don't really need the deal of the century, just want to get a good laptop for a reasonable price, maybe $500-700ish. Will rep for any thoughts and advice. Thanks in advance for your help!
