the Breville Barista express was not for me and I returned it. I need an easier to use machine that disposes of the used puck and can make a variety of coffee drinks, not just espresso. Would this fit the bill? Other recommendations?

This will likely do what you want, but if you have one nearby I would try going into a Sur La Table as they have a number of machines on display that you can try out (or did a couple years ago). I bought a Delonghi from Costco and returned it because in a latte the drink was not very hot. I ended up spending more than I wanted to on a Jura, but could not be happier with it and temperature of drinks is where I want it and is adjustable (4 years in and I have a family member who has had theirs for 10 years).

The best superautomatic in the world is probably the Jura Z10.

How does it compare to De'Longhi Dinamica Plus? It was recently on sale for $1170. The warranty is 3 years as well.

This one is fully adjustible on all drink parameters, if that one is too, perhaps they are the same machine? I'm noticing a similarity in control panel icons across some different brand machines... EEK!

Why are you so sure it's better than this one?

I did the same thing. I bought the Breville Barista Express and returned it. I finally settled with the De'Longhi Dinamica Plus. It is a one button coffee grind, brew and milk froth straight into a cup. The machine listed here seems to do the same, I just opted for a brand I knew more.

My wife saw the price of the saeco and said no f'ing way. I'll check the De'Longhi. I've seen the Magnifica Evo but not the model you mentioned. Thanks!

I have owned this machine since march 2020, scored it on a covid sale for 900. Its fantastic, I have had a couple of hiccups which were likely due too longer than recommended maintenance intervals and just as i was about to send my machine it, poof they cleared up.

at a bare minimum I would say im 7500 shots in, I primarily make double or triple shot coffees as does my wife, I same the cappacinos for the weekend.

I am a pretty mechanical fellow and the user interfaces and design for the milk system are fantastic designs.

I need to descale....

ngl I'm surprised there's not a 10 year or lifetime warranty for expensive devices like this

Jura's have a reputation for making the highest quality espresso for superautomatics. That's why they're able to sell their entry level machines for $1k which only makes espresso. People buy them over machines that also make milk drinks because the espresso is much higher quality.

Yeah they don't have removeable brew groups. I agree that's a con. But they still have a reputation for making the highest quality espresso for superautomatics. Their entry level model (ENA 4) costs about $1k and doesn't even make milk drinks.

Their reputation isn't due to hype. They have a special process called Pulse Extraction Process (P.E.P.) that other superautomatic manufacturers don't have. You can read more here [jura.com]

FWIW, I'm not even a JURA owner. I own a 5400 Lattego.

yeah, we have a friend who got a giga 10 iirc? had two large hoppers on top. there's no doubt it makes a great cup. i guess i've seen too many youtube videos of users opening them up to find lots of mold inside. i prefer being able to thoroughly clean a machine.

i've already went through my superautomatic phase, for now anyway. the philips lattego (when on sale) seemed like the best value out there. i currently own a semi lucca/quick mill x58.

Yeah I finished going through my superautomatic phase as well. I actually bought a BDB last week. It should be getting here in the coming week.

I'm actually satisfied with my 5400. But I do want to try the various coffee beans out there from specialty roasters. I thought the 5400 would be able to do that when I initially bought it. But one roasters cautioned that they thought the extraction time on superautomatics would make pulling a good shot difficult.
