I have the same unit. Buyers need to know that the top covering the bottom drawer in the freezer is fragile glass. My wife accidentally dropped something very light on it and it shattered into a bajillion pieces. My hands were shredded and bloody doing the cleanup which took many passes because the pieces were so tiny. Lots of sweeping, shop vacuuming, and hand cleaning. We were concerned for our grandchildren who often walk barefoot around it. Worse yet, the way the glass broke, we could not open the drawer to replace it. A service rep had to finally come out after working with LG service for what seemed forever to get them to fix it. Even then, he struggled to remove it. Pieces of broken glass had lodged in the glide area preventing the drawer from being opened. Given the significant amount of plastic in fridges, I was surprised that this was not only glass but not shatterproof.

This fridge has been this price for 2 months. Fridges seem pretty well priced-controlled, usually only varying by $5 at most from what the manufacturer is selling it for through their own website.

Strongly recommend seeing the ice and water controls on the door in person and plugged in. No nightlight or light in general and not intuitive to use.
No ice on door for this model

If your concerns are capacity, price, & reliability, get 2x smaller fridges that don't have through the door ice makers and put them side by side.
  • Less to go wrong on simpler models
  • Energy consumption is pretty similar
  • You lose less cold air each time you open the door
  • If you dedicate one to less frequently accessed things, it'll take less energy to just maintain temperature vs. having to offset the loss of cold air
  • If you're remodeling, it's not that much more than putting in a pantry cabinet
  • More capacity
  • More drawers / shelves
  • You have plenty of room to store things like batteries / nuts / flour so that they last longer (which offsets the reduction in kitchen storage)
  • If you have a power outage, you can get longer runtime on your generator if you just limit to powering one
  • If either fails you have a backup until you're able to replace it

As an example, compare with getting 2x of this 20 cu. ft LG model:
https://www.samsclub.com/p/lg-20-...od24965258 [samsclub.com]
  • 1 fridge
    • $1045
    • 28 cu ft.
    • 687 kWh
  • 2 fridges
    • $1200
    • 40 cu ft.
    • 774 kWh
It's a bit silly.
99.9% of houses have room for 1 fridge in the kitchen.

Exactly. If you have the space and dont mind the weird looks at the kitchen fridges then do it. But space, and you would want to use the two for ice so piping, splitting ( which is easy to do) would be another thing. So more to consider. But I do like the HA setup.

Wild Design. It is a fake French door design. I thought i was French door with 2 doors on top and bottom.
this is pretty ugly.
Samsung did this right...

Nah--those are terrible. your basically dumping all your freezer stuff in a drawer....and whatever is at the bottom gets lost. The way that the bespoke one is, are how all super high end refrigerators do it.

I do this. Instead of a couch I buy 4 folding chairs and 4 pillows. Less cost, more mobile, more space.

Are the compressors on the LG refrigerators better than the past ones?
I don't think so. Mine died which felt like a fluke but my buddy bought a new model which died in less than a year. He said lg was very responsive and replaced the compressor right away though, but he couldn't remember the cost I think the part itself was included. So I'd say at least they've stepped up there service.

Kinda dumb not to have tempered glass. What was LG thinking? Thanks for sharing and hope everyone is okay.

Have this Friday from home depot about 1+ year now. Love it. Lots of room. Like how the there is no bulky handles sticking out for those with smaller kitchens. I dropped something from a top shelf and also shattered the top of the bottom shelf. no big deal, easier to access cold drinks now in the fridge on the bottom!
