I can confirm, you can cancel autoship just like prime, but only do it AFTER the items ship.
Edit: apparently, you don't have to do this and can cancel immediately after purchase, however if you're cautious like me, I would wait to cancel autoship until after the delivery and, big and, the charge posts to your payment method.

You actually don't have to. I canceled immediately after I purchased it and it still shipped perfectly fine. Just got them in yesterday.

Went with autoship. You can add as many items as you want to your first autoship order for the 40% off. On my third item, it showed only 10% discount for autoship on the product page, but once I added it to the existing order, it dropped to 40% off. Also, Caribou Coffee isn't listed here but the 96 pack is also on sale!
