Bought this the last time - it is a bear to set up - requires a custom usb c cable (included) and software to be installed - does not work automatically - I did like the sound and the lights on the side - just be aware that it is far from basic to set this one up.

This monitor in my experience setting up does not support anything other setting it up with displaylink/their driver. The great news is that makes it easy to add two monitors to a machine with one or none video ports but USB 2/3 (It works under USB 2 but it does become laggy / slow refresh rate). The bad news is that this does not work as a standalone monitor even when replacing the factory cables with USB-C video cables, it must be used with the cable it comes with and with the displaylink driver (Tried Win 10, 11, MacOS 12,13, and there is a Linux driver I do not recall any experience with). Once the driver is installed it is recognized as a monitor and can be used normally (although use of displaylink I believe bars MacOS from using two of these completely separate). But for $60 I was blown away and it is a very nice looking screen, pretty bright (although only adjustable thru it's app), decent audio with touch controls on the front, and customizable led lights (ie charging, call coming, on mute, etc.), bright vanity lights with touch control to adjust on rear, decent camera, wireless charging pad and USB Hub integrated. The included cables also are on the longer side maybe 3 meters, and worked well with a 10 ft USB3 Extension cable added? Overall very happy for $60, great as an extra monitor.

Talk about e-Waste. Cannot understand the use-case for this. Maybe a conference room?
I imagine this was designed as a BYOD/huddle space device. You can centrally manage it and allows for a dedicated space for meetings on any platform, leveraging one of the participants laptops. This was seen as a growing use case in the video conferencing industry pre-covid.

for what it is worth:

> The Studio P21 personal meeting display is pending certification from Microsoft as a USB accessory when paired with Microsoft Teams.

That this PDF is not directly available on Poly website and I have to sift through the Internet Archive does not inspire confidence on this product.

Since this uses displayLink I wonder if it would work as an external monitor with Google Pixel Pro phones.

I am a therapist who does a lot of telehealth where we do collaborative activities in session on my computer. Many times, I have to move my laptop to where the client has a not so great view of me so I can type in session. I have been considering getting a second monitor, but this looks like a better option....hmmm. Anyone try it for such?

There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. This monitor does need a driver / app installed on the host computer, but it's super simple to set up. This is absolutely not e-waste. This monitor can use any usb-c 3.2 cable, not just the one that comes in the box.

This thing is pretty impressive. Poly Studio makes high end office communications devices. There are a ton of features on this, and the display is colorful and bright. The sound is better than any TV speakers I've had. This monitor works well for anything you can throw at it. The lights give it an extra dimension, and are helpful for video conferencing.

I was a little disappointed that you need the app to use the monitor because this would be perfect for Samsung Dex, considering there is a wireless phone charger in the base. I did get it to work as a phone display, but not using Dex, so the aspect ratio was wrong.

The camera is better than most webcams. You can isolate portions of the screen too, so while you cannot position the camera independently of the screen, you can crop and zoom in on the image.

Again, the speakers are great.

This would work for that, but you could also just get a wireless keyboard.

What about using it as a portable monitor. Would that work?
No. It's too big and it has a brick style power supply.

Can this be set up to have eufy Doorbell or wyze cam display on at all times?
This needs a computer. You cannot load apps to this, nor does it work with a phone or tablet.

Yes, these were meant for business / office use, but they make a nice second display and since there are lights, speakers, a camera, and a phone charger included, it reduces cable clutter. I have mine in my living room and I use it mostly for remote work and a second monitor for my laptop. I'm considering buying a second one for the conference room at work.

Poly was purchased by HP awhile back and the sites were recently transitioned, all of the old Polycom/Poly URLs no longer work. Try: https://support.hp.com/us-en/prod...2101772486
