On the other hand... I have had zero issues with P7P for the past 8 months. Not sure why you had so much trouble setting up a finger print. It only took me a minute or two AND it works every single time. Battery life isn't as good as my work Samsung 22, but I end with about 40% on a heavy use day. I am sure the Moto is great, but I really enjoy the photos and smooth software experience (ie, no bloat wear.)

I experienced the opposite of this, maybe you received a dud. I've had the P7P since it came out, wife has P6P. They have both been amazing.

there are always ppl who have good experiences and ppl who have bad experiences with literally everything. check the samsung forums and you'll find ppl who are/have had bad experiences with samsung phones. big surprise ! literally happens with every product in every industry. ppl don't like WD ! but they love seagate ! ppl love WD but don't like seagate ! ppl hate intel ! but love AMD.. other hate AMD but love intel !.. i dunno man.. glad you're able to vent somewhere.. but while you're not alone.. you're also on one side of a coin where the otherside has had/having the complete diff experience. hope you feel better tho

As a Pixel lover with Pixel 5a, 6a, 7, I am strongly recommending against the Pixel 7 pro (or any Pixels until fundamental issues are resolved).

This guy had a pretty terrible experience [youtube.com] with the Pixel 7 pro. My experience with the Pixel 7 was also pretty awful, starting with the lame finger print sensor that still works less than 50% to this day.

I thought maybe the optical fingerprint sensor was to blame. But when I switched to the amazing Moto ThinkPhone with an optical fingerprint sensor, it works 100% instantly, so something is seriously wrong with Pixel (including the hated time-out feature when setting up fingerprints - it took me 30 minutes to set up a single fingerprint, not an exaggeration - WTF Google?? - and yet it still works less than 50% of the time.)

My recommendation is to buy the Moto ThinkPhone all day over the Pixel. the difference is night and day. The ThinkPhone made me fall in love with Android again, whereas the Pixel 7 made me hate it.

The best decision I ever made was moving the SIM card out of my Pixel 7 to the ThinkPhone.

The ThinkPhone is still on sales for $360, and is the steal of the year. I'm buying several for the family, include kids who wanted to switch to it from their iPhones after playing with it.
Motorola hardware has been pretty solid but their update policy is abysmal compared to just about anyone else. That's the main reason I won't even look at them for new phones these days. They come in line with Samsung and Pixel and they'd be a real contender.

Is that you Greg Brown (Motorola CEO) pretending to be a slick deal shopper?

Have you considered Moto Edge Plus 2023 before you purchased many ThinkPhone ?

Is it worth upgrading p7 to p7 pro? At this time of year?
I liked my P7 (got it when it first came out with bonkers trade-in) but I love my P7 Pro. If the battery were better, this would be just about perfect.

same, got p7 with Walmart iPhone 11 trade in, disappointed this year about trade-ins so just deciding if its better to upgrade to p7 pro, unfortunately Bestbuy is offering 280$ towards p8 , for p7pro its only 200$, debating btw larger screen on p7 vs newer p8, this is my secondary phone and I dont use it daily

Bummer. No trade in for Pixel 2XL.

Otherwise, I would have ordered one.

So use the PIN or camera unlock if fingerprint sensor sucks

That's true, although the ThinkPhone has been getting rapid monthly updates. Time will tell if Motorola will commit to the timely updates over the next 4-5 years, but signs are good.

Regarding Pixel, my Pixel 5a was stuck on a November update for 3-4 months before it finally updated, like many people on this discussion [reddit.com].

I was pretty sad to see Pixel updates being neglected for so long.

LOL, you think you're slick trying to portray anyone who has a positive experience with a product as an employee of that company. Have nothing of substance to say so try the strawman attack approach. laugh out loud

So by that approach, apparently many of the happy Pixel users in this thread must be Google employees. LMAO

Sad you can't think of anything more original.

PIN unlock is not secure (some iPhone users who didn't use FaceID or TouchID had their phones stolen and then their iOS accounts locked via PIN unlock) , but on Moto ThinkPhone with random PIN pad it might be more secure.

Face unlock is not secure, not compared to Apple FaceID which is far more secure.

Fingerprint unlock is the best option on the Pixel, if it worked properly.

This, especially for someone like me who uses things until failure. My last moto was extremely frustrating after the first year because newer features and bug fixes were just not there, despite repeated lies from moto/Lenovo of coming and promised updates. There's little to no support beyond that first year.

I swore of moto phones after this.
