Just a fair warning, the base M3 does not allow for dual external displays. Only one external display allowed.

Ordered one, thanks OP.
PROs:
This is th best value laptop you can find with the M3 lineup:
This is a great deal, the new air with m3 will probably start at $1,100. Add 512 GB SSD and 16 GB ram will become $1,500. The M3 pro starts at $2k, I never seen it cheaper than $1,800.

Cons:
Compared to M3 pro models, it is weaker in terms of performance, there is one fewer usb-c port, no new black color, and supports only one external monitor.

Been eyeing the MacBook Air 15" for couple months now.. was waiting/hoping it drops to $ 1 k price, but never did (lowest I seen was $1100). Would you guys think this would be a better buy than MacBook Air? I'm a basic user with a MacBook Pro from 2016 that's showing its age.. TIA
Honestly anything would be a massive upgrade. I upgraded from a 15" 2016 MBP to a base 14" M1 Pro last year and it's been great. Can't boot into Windows anymore but there's a big jump in performance and it's definitely cooler and quieter unless you're really taxing the CPU.

It looks like there might be a refreshed M3 MBA coming "early next year" according to the rumor sites but then it'll probably be back up to MSRP for a bit.
If you're willing to get a smaller screen, the 14" would be slightly thicker and heavier but the mini-LED and 120Hz is great. This MBP deal also gives you 512GB storage and 16GB RAM, which is also something to consider vs getting only 256GB/8GB in a MBA unless you do a custom config.

Edit: Looks like B&H has a deal on a 512GB/16GB M2 MBA for $1499 right now.
I'd probably go with this M3 deal unless you want the larger screen size and care about the thickness and weight for maximum portability.

does anyone price match this company?
I would try MicroCenter. They've been around a while and have probably dealt with this company before in some way or another.

Do no think they carry this CTO model , so they won't be able to price match it

Then buy a air. Don't add confusion to the mbp line-up

See the post ahead of mine. Hes confused. Thats all apple is doing putting a non-pro chip in a device with pro in its name. I get it they are trying to replicate the intel i3, i5, i7, i9 (M3, M3 pro, M3 max, M3 ultra). Get that maximum income.
That's 100% the bean counter. This clown should have been removed as ceo years ago and I say this as an Apple stock holder.

Agreed. It's almost like false advertising, and less sophisticated buyers will believe they're getting the full MBP experience.

Yeah I'm not sure why you are getting downvoted. That shit is just straight up confusing and it's literally a scam at this point.
Not to be argumentative, but I don't see it as confusing and calling it a scam is absurd. The specs are all on Apple's website, which is easy to understand and navigate, and plenty of reviews cover the differences between the chips. With only a few minutes of research, it should be clear what the options are and what you're getting.

For purposes of comparison, the Windows side can be a bit confusing (mobile vs normal vs Ti GPUs, different wattage/thermals, different CPUs, different flavors for various markets, etc.) but even that isn't usually too difficult figure out with a little research.

Regarding this deal, it's quite slick for anyone who wants a Mac with 16 GB RAM. Yeah the MacBook Air is a little lighter, but I'd go with this instead just for the 120Hz mini-LED screen. While the MBA screen is also quite nice, the MBP screen is better (and it has a bigger battery, better speakers, HDMI, and SDXC).

Source: My wife has a 13.6" M2 MBA w/ 8 GB, I use a 14" M1 MBP w/ 16 GB for work and have had a few Windows gaming laptops.

Cheapest i have seen is $1049 from Amazon. I think 16 GB is a better buy to future proof the purchase. When M3 Air's come out in April, there should be deals on M2 Air's. I think there will be lot of unsold inventory by then, especially the fingerprint magnet midnight blue. Whoever tested that color definitely dropped the ball or had gloves all the time.

what do you mean only 1 external display? I though the MBPs could connect to multiple displays? in fact, my M2 MBP can connect to 2 external displays via HDMI and USB-C
You got fooled by Apple calling this a MacBook Pro. The chip, M3, is NOT a "Pro" version chip. Just like the MacBook Air with an M1 or M2, which also only works with one external display, the M3 in this MBP only supports 1 external display.

My M2 MacBook Pro base model powers two external monitors, 5K ones. Why would this not?

If we can Confirm the RAM as 18GB 16GB is a typo.

This is a steal for the Display alone.
No it's 16GB

All true. But B&H has the 14" M3 Pro for $1749 w/no tax if you use their CC. So the delta (assume paying tax on this one) is only ~$150.

Because this MacBook Pro uses the 'standard' M3 chip (not the M3 Pro/Max), and as such only has a single display controller on the die.

So is this a good deal for the average person? Will the average person notice between the m3 pro vs non pro?
