PROs:
This is th best value laptop you can find with the M3 lineup:
This is a great deal, the new air with m3 will probably start at $1,100. Add 512 GB SSD and 16 GB ram will become $1,500. The M3 pro starts at $2k, I never seen it cheaper than $1,800.
Cons:
Compared to M3 pro models, it is weaker in terms of performance, there is one fewer usb-c port, no new black color, and supports only one external monitor.

It looks like there might be a refreshed M3 MBA coming "early next year" according to the rumor sites but then it'll probably be back up to MSRP for a bit.
If you're willing to get a smaller screen, the 14" would be slightly thicker and heavier but the mini-LED and 120Hz is great. This MBP deal also gives you 512GB storage and 16GB RAM, which is also something to consider vs getting only 256GB/8GB in a MBA unless you do a custom config.
Edit: Looks like B&H has a deal on a 512GB/16GB M2 MBA for $1499 right now.
I'd probably go with this M3 deal unless you want the larger screen size and care about the thickness and weight for maximum portability.
See the post ahead of mine. Hes confused. Thats all apple is doing putting a non-pro chip in a device with pro in its name. I get it they are trying to replicate the intel i3, i5, i7, i9 (M3, M3 pro, M3 max, M3 ultra). Get that maximum income.
For purposes of comparison, the Windows side can be a bit confusing (mobile vs normal vs Ti GPUs, different wattage/thermals, different CPUs, different flavors for various markets, etc.) but even that isn't usually too difficult figure out with a little research.
Regarding this deal, it's quite slick for anyone who wants a Mac with 16 GB RAM. Yeah the MacBook Air is a little lighter, but I'd go with this instead just for the 120Hz mini-LED screen. While the MBA screen is also quite nice, the MBP screen is better (and it has a bigger battery, better speakers, HDMI, and SDXC).
Source: My wife has a 13.6" M2 MBA w/ 8 GB, I use a 14" M1 MBP w/ 16 GB for work and have had a few Windows gaming laptops.

This is a steal for the Display alone.

Yeah it's hard to pass up. It's an unbeatable laptop for 99% of college students.
