8gb of RAM though - would have snagged one so quick from Costco if it was 16gb

Placed an order over the weekend but I cancelled it because they require Landline verification on the order and they're somehow able to tell. Only way around it is a wire transfer, which personally makes me feel uncomfortable so I cancelled.

Same- also had to cancel. Agent I spoke with didn't make it sound like exceptions could be made. Super frustrating. Here's the email:

Seems like just some orders get held up here for whatever reason. I just called to see if there was any delay or verification needed on my order and they said it looked fine and would be shipping out in the next few hours. Online status is currently "preparing shipment".

Similar question to mine except 16" refurb m1 pro (like new) for $100 less. Mostly future proof/software support concerns or would def stick with M1 machine..

Does everyone else have a land line - or is this a non issue?

Haven't had a landline in over a decade. That's an absolutely ridiculous requirement.

Couldn't agree more. I sent a picture if me holding the card used for payment in front of the delivery address instead, as well as a hand written note with the credit card and a business card - we'll see what they say that level of "verification" is worth.

Edit: called in on my cell - and was told I could email from a work email to verify. Will update once the order confirms

Edit 2: Order got processed after emailing from a non-generic (Gmail/yahoo/etc) email for verification. I used my work email to send them a message with the order number in it.

Plus Apple ARM chips(non LTE modem) are 1/8th to 1/4th the cost of Intel x86 chips.
M3 N3 yields are low but get way cheaper every 3-6 months.

ARM cost is so low, Apple sticks the A13 in $100 iphone SE, $230 ipad9, M1/M2 in $500 ipad air

Apple charging 10-50x from its cost for ARM chips, RAM, SSD

When everything(Intel Lake/AMD Zen/Apple M) is stupid fast the last 5 years and SSD were at an all time low price. i just purchase 8gb ram $15, nvme 2tb $75 this summer.
