You have to set the center output to "phantom" in the menu.
This is one of the lies speaker salespeople would tell people. That you'll miss dialogue without a center speaker or that the crappy center speaker that no one would ever use as a "serious" speaker for left and right would make dialogue clearer. Sad.
I swear I looked for this a couple times before, but googled the manual just now and finally did see a way to do this, so thanks! My receiver is like 20 years old so is a bit limited in features. I'll have to try it out tonight

Phenomenal set for the money! I had the towers, bookshelves, and center in a 5.2.1 setup, with two extra bookshelves, S 801's, height mounted and pointed down down for the Atmos channels, and an SVS PB1000 sub, and it rocked.

Amazing for home theater. It left a bit to be desired for music, which is why I eventually upgraded. But at this price, you're not going to get any better.

Looking to replace my Andrew Jones speakers (though, I understand those are pretty legendary). Just wanted to have these in white!
In the same boat, paired with a Jamo J-112 sub. Will these speakers be much of an upgrade from the Andrew Jones? Was looking at the Klipsch packages as well for 3-4 times the price. Not an audiophile but enjoy good surround for home movies. Any advice?

Hi friends .. I have a quick question with Dolby Atmos. Do these towers have Dolby included or is it just ready and that we have to buy additional components to make it Dolby Atmos. From what i gather, you need to buy those "S 8 ATM topper". This is confusing and help please. Thanks.

They're "atmos ready" which means they need the upfiring speakers. Upfiring speakers are not built in.
Pretty sure these have little receptacles in the top that the matching atmos speaker plugs into.

Did you click the link in the Onkyo thread? You won't see sale price otherwise.

Yes, thanks for confirming. I like to get a Dolby Atmos setup and almost jumped on this awesome deal. I mean $450 for a package, you cant beat that.

But in regards to Dolby Atmos, this is from their website itself. So ya, they are just ready for it ... not included

scroll down a bit to see this info ..

SEAMLESS DOLBY ATMOS INTEGRATION
Elegant metal fasteners atop the cabinet provide a chic, modern industrial look, but also serve as a connection point for the S 8 ATM Dolby Atmos elevation speaker.

Thanks again.

Love these speakers though upgraded the sub. I paired with the Costco Denon receiver as I wanted Atmos to run ceiling speakers. It's on sale now too. Sounds great! Would definitely not hesitate to buy. Also new sub was pointless as I only get to use when wife is on a biz trip. In terms of annoying her both this sub and new did the job \m/

These speakers sound OK, but they're not very efficient and require at minimum, a 100W/channel amp/receiver. Anything less and you really need to crank up that dial.

Do these speakers come with wires to hook up with a receiver?
I see this question a lot, I don't know why so many people make a big deal about it. Speaker wire is cheap. Get a 50' (or 100' if you have a big room) roll of 16ga pure copper (or 14ga if it's CCA) and you're all set.

that's a lot of power considering these are 8ohm and 90db on sensitivity. Are you sure it needs "minimum 100W/channel" ?
I have a Denon S970H and it only does 90W/channel I think. It can't drive these speakers?

The sensitivity of these is 90dB, which is pretty close (+/- 3dB) to most modern speakers. The difference between 50W and 100W is only 3dB (audible, but not a major change), and the position of the volume control (or in most modern receivers, the volume display) has no relevance to the amount of power it puts out, only that higher volume means more power. Additionally, the majority of your listening time, you're using under 1W/channel.

Does anyone know how much would it cost (return shipping estimate) to return these if one does not like it?
