It depends on the location. Did the Teton Crest Trail (Wyoming) in 2018, and spent the first night at an area called Alaska Basin. We are deep in the mountains, mind you. Was shocked to find signals on a T-Mobile phone and actually make a few phone calls. ATT and Verizon phones in the group didn't even pick up a bar of signal.

Have not seen anyone asked....is the phone unlocked or will be unlocked after 4mo?
The phone comes unlocked and can be used with any compatible providers on Day 1. HOWEVER, there's a requirement that you have to keep its Fi line active for 120 days. So, you can activate the phone with Fi then remove the Fi SIM and stash it away (do NOT use that Fi SIM in another phone) and use the phone with a physical SIM of another provider. You can also keep using the physical Fi SIM in the phone and use its eSIM with another provider.

How is this service compared to X-finity. I'm think soon i will be starting to push my phones limits, ability to to receive an update (Galaxy S20+), etc... Could this be a good move?

FYI, last week my Fi S23 that I bought in Feb received updates to Android 14 and One UI 6.0.

Does this have all the typical Samsung Bloatware?
Yes it does, but you can uninstall/disable most of them, and don't have to use them.

I was thinking about getting S24 from sammy direct but still not sure if that gets unlockable bootloader.

Anyone got the phone from fi, can you confirm if phone is sim and boot loader unlocked or just sim?

What would be total cost on fi + phone to get it unlocked and out door?

are the plan prices subject to change? I was thinking of getting the simply unlimited plan for 5 lines @ $100 right now and have no idea of google fi's pricing changes.

im curreently on a grandfathered plan with tmobile and the price has been locked in for over 10yrs now and wanted to know what changes to expect before i jump over to google fi

The XCover has a Jack. Otherwise, your only option is a Sony
Thanks will take a look. I have the S22 and love the camera, but too many compromises with no jack and sd card.

Samsung recently released Android 14 and the One UI 6 update based on Android 14 for its latest flagship phones and continues to test for older devices, S21, S22, etc.
S23 already got these updates.

I got my S20 via a similar deal. I bought the phone, stayed for the required time, then cancelled the service. I'd love to see the stats on how many people do this. It seems like Fi is trying to cut down on this by offering bill credits instead, but every now and then these non-credit deals pop up.

That said, the S24 is due out in January, and I believe for the S23 and S22, Fi did this deal on release day for the device. I'm banking they're going to do the same this year. While I realize there's always a risk that Fi will never run this deal again, I really doubt it, so I'm taking my chances.

Unlocked out of the box. I did this deal when this phone was first released and was able to put my Verizon SIM in the phone. The sim that came from fi I threw in the drawer until the 120 days was up and the 500 was moved to the earned category. Do NOT put the fi sim in any other phone during the 120 day period or you will get f*****!

Also when you sign up use a FI referral code from Reddit to get $20 off your next month of service. Share your referral code for others to use on Reddit, and you will get more referral credits to go towards the 120 days. I eventually got five people to use my referral code from posting on Reddit in several of the FI referral forums.

Are these compatible with Verizon and Verizon MVNOs? I remember getting a g power 2020 and while it appeared to have the bands it was actually not able to connect to Verizon or any Verizon MVNOs like Visible

Yes these new Galaxy s23 phones have all of the bands necessary for Verizon and every other US carrier. This is a great deal! Factory unlocked phone, no bill credits for 2 or 3 years, a no brainer if you want a great phone. Only downside to the iPhone I had for years and traded in, is that face unlock not nearly as good on Samsung. TIV's suck now as compared to earlier this year, just sell old phone yourself. See my post above.

XM is on Verizon; FI is on T-mo.

Fi's big advantage is for international roaming (if you use either the Flex or the Unlimited Plus plan). Their multi line pricing for the unlimited plans is decent; the flex plan is somewhat overpriced if you are using it for local only (no international roaming).

XM's advantage is if you have multiple lines on the By-The-Gig plan; their unlimited plans are not as good as US Mobile on Verizon.

So we should hold out for s24 if we're in no hurry? When is s24 coming?
It was mentioned in the news that only S24 Ultra will have Snapdragon, S24 and S24+ will have Samsung SOC (most likely much worse as usual)
