FYI, the S24 series is supposed to be announced next month. Google Fi should have similar deals on the S24 series, like they did on the S23 at launch. I think the launch S23 deals were even better than the deal listed in this post.

The cheapest is the $20 Flexible Plan (unlimited talk/text, any Data used is $10 per GB, prorated). The taxes & fees usually add another $6-$7 a month. Percentage wise that sounds high, but some of the fees are fixed-amounts per line so they skewed the percentage. Some people in Texas have taxes & fees as high as $10 each month.

I did the Fi pre-release S23 deal in Feb this year. My S23 (with free upgrade to 256GB) was $299.99. So it was better than this deal. Plus the trade-in values at that time was great. I traded in an iPhone11 for $310 which pretty much offset the cost of the S23. My net cost was $27 in sales tax on $299.99, minus the $10 in excess credit.

You can buy a phone number on Ebay, www.numberbarn.com [numberbarn.com] , or activate a new Tracfone line and port the number to FI.
To clarify my previous answer...After activating the physical Fi SIM , you have several options:
1. Keep the Fi SIM in place, and use the eSIM with another provider.
2. Remove the Fi SIM and store it away, then use the physical SIM of another provider.
3. Ask Fi support to transfer service from the physical Fi SIM to the S23's eSIM, then use the physical SIM of another provider.
Thank you for the reply. I did some reading in the thread from February last night and also saw someone mention buying a phone number on Ebay in the FAQ. I saw some on there for only $8 with 100% feedback. I'm looking to take the least risky route, so spending a few bucks more now is worth it to not lose $500. I have an old Tracfone and saw minutes available for $15, so that's why I mentioned it. Would an actual phone number like Tracfone be any less risky than buying a number on Ebay?

This is all new to me, so I'll have to do some research. I've never heard of eSIM or Fi SIM before. I currently have a Google Pixel on Tracfone and plan to use their service on the new Samsung. I don't want to screw up!

I used to buy phone numbers on Ebay when I was doing a lot of sign-up deals with AT&T and T-mo back in 2020. I had no problems using them for port-in requirements. Back then, they were $5 or less each, then last year many of the sellers got shut down and the price went up to as high as $30 each. I haven't bought one since 2022 when I started creating GV numbers and using them for porting-in to Fi.

Porting a number from Tracfone is not any safer than using a number bought on Ebay. TF does require you to request a Port PIN (called Network Transfer PIN). You can get one by logging into your TF account and submit a request, or text the word "NTP" to 611611. Each Port PIN is good for about 24 hrs. If the number is not ported into the new provider within that time frame, you'll need to request a new one.

eSIM is "embedded SIM" which resides in the phone's memory, you can search on Google for more info on eSIM. Fi SIM is just a physical SIM provided by Google Fi.

Yes these new Galaxy s23 phones have all of the bands necessary for Verizon and every other US carrier. This is a great deal! Factory unlocked phone, no bill credits for 2 or 3 years, a no brainer if you want a great phone. Only downside to the iPhone I had for years and traded in, is that face unlock not nearly as good on Samsung. TIV's suck now as compared to earlier this year, just sell old phone yourself. See my post above.
I got s23 fe from metro just a day before this deal was posted.

Google dont have an option to trade in s23 fe in their list. Is s23 a lot better than s23 FE?

S23 vs S23FE: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare....one2=12520 You'll have to decide if the differences in performance benchmarks and other specs are "a lot better".

Thank you for being so helpful! I'll just get a number on Ebay. Now I need to find a discount code on Reddit that people were referring to.

Bought three S23 256GB phones and migrating four lines (one is an iPhone 15 user) from T-Mobile. As a 22-year customer of T-Mobile on a Select Choice plan, the salesperson literally said "I dare you to leave T-Mobile." Challenge accepted. Looking forward to saving around $55/month.

My wife and child don't care about getting the latest phones. That means I'll have three S20FE's and one S21 to potentially parlay into super discounted S24 phones during pre-order. If the TIV are as crappy as they were with the S23 launch, I'll just dump the old phones on Swappa for the going rate. Otherwise, I'll buy some S24's, and they'll just sit until April/May when the 120 days is up, switch phones, and sell off the S23's to recoup some money. Then we'll look into trading up once the S25 is released.

The only annoyance is that the lavender S23 for my wife is delayed until January, so I'll have to pay yet another full month of T-Mobile service before I can cancel.

If I were to get this deal, port in a number, and keep that line active for 4 months, can I have an existing T-Mobile line sim inserted into the same device and have it working at the same time?

* Short answer: Yes.
* Long answer:
- If you want to use Fi service along with your T-mo service: Keep the physical Fi SIM in place, and use the eSIM with your T-mo service. Use the phone's SIM Manager to designate which SIM is the Primary SIM for outgoing calls (both SIMs can receive incoming calls). You can change the Primary SIM designation anytime using the SIM Manager.
- If you want to use your T-mo service in lieu of the Fi service, then remove the physicall Fi SIM (after activating it) and stash it away, then put your physical T-mo SIM into the phone.

Thanks. Will removing the Fi sim potentially disqualify me for the unlock by the end of the 4 months of Fi service needed? I probably would just leave it in and use it for the 4 months, in addition to my T-Mobile service, since I'm paying for the Fi service anyway.

I just recently ported a Metro phone number to Google Voice and paid $20 to do so. Not really wanting to port that number out of GV into Fi now, since ultimately I want to park it back in GV after the 4 months of Fi service are up, but I need to port a number to qualify for this deal right?

As I posted earlier today, I have done many Fi deals (8 to be exact) and I always removed the physical Fi SIM a few days after activation and stashed them away. All my promotion discounts were earned after the required length of service without problems. Just do NOT use the removed Fi SIM in another phone.

If you currently don't have an active Fi phone number, then you'll need to port-in a phone number for this deal.

After reading your post more closely, the answer is "the phone comes unlocked out of the box". The only thing you need to be concerned about is not losing the promotion discount (keep active FI service for 120 days, don't use the Fi SIM in another phone).
