This can't possibly be any more of a fire hazard than having anything else plugged into your outlet.

The internal components are at most an LED and an AC to DC step down converter on an IC. It might even be using AC LEDs, though I doubt it for this price.

A lot of ICs have some method of cutoff protection, so this might even be safer than leaving a non-circuited device plugged in.

But, if you need to be extra cautious, plug them into GFCI outlets and get a clear baby-proof outlet cover that's lined with intumescent bead.

Wherever you copied and pasted this bs from is not very accurate. We design, engineer, and manufacturer many products that are handled by both of these testing laboratories. You always aim to get UL, and if the cost to make the quality/safety measures is too expensive, you go the ETL route.

If you care about speed you submit to ETL. If you care about safety and lawsuits down the road, you go with UL. It's almost like comparing this as the special olympics vs the regular olympics. They both are technically olympics.

As someone who manufactures to UL and ETL standards let me say once again, there is a big difference. Why do people keep posting this nonsense. The testing for UL is brutal compared to ETL.

Why would it be a fire hazard? This just a night light.

UL vs ETL Labels

The main difference between the two certifications is that UL develops the safety standards it tests to. ETL does not develop its own safety standards. Rather it follows those developed by UL. So, as you can see, both ETL and UL listed mean essentially the same thing.

And if you think those standards are met without testing you are a very gullible person. Stop posting inaccurate and misleading things about a process that you clearly don't understand or have experience with.

My first thought.
My second thought is shouldn't the little ones be in bed at night instead of playing with a night light?

I've always gone for these night lights [walmart.com]. They're a little more expensive @ $2 each, but the benefit here is that they can angle down. You can remove the little plastic shell on the top and turn it upside down. This helps just illuminate walkways or sinks and doesn't shine directly into your eyes.

I've literally used these for more than 20 years.

So color changing lights to draw little ones to it 😄. Glade is tamper resistant 😂
Honestly that is a solid point. Especially at near eye level for a small child.

Set it to steady just like a normal night light. Problem solved.

Curious what the "non-sale" price was...

Found the two pack:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Hampt.../323037413

Would seem the normal price would be at least $4 each.

I agree. These are the safest bet. They also won't attract the kids as much, especially after a week or so once they've grown bored of the new item.

Outside of the color option on these new ones (IDK who'd opt for a colored nightlight...), but anyways, these new ones seem like they'd be less apt to being knocked off the wall by the kids or yourself as they don't look like they stick out as much.

We actually use a GE colored nightlight.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B087XV8N7P

If works wonders for preserving your night vision and the kids like setting certain colors for certain holidays/events.
