This can't possibly be any more of a fire hazard than having anything else plugged into your outlet.

The internal components are at most an LED and an AC to DC step down converter on an IC. It might even be using AC LEDs, though I doubt it for this price.

A lot of ICs have some method of cutoff protection, so this might even be safer than leaving a non-circuited device plugged in.

But, if you need to be extra cautious, plug them into GFCI outlets and get a clear baby-proof outlet cover that's lined with intumescent bead.

Wherever you copied and pasted this bs from is not very accurate. We design, engineer, and manufacturer many products that are handled by both of these testing laboratories. You always aim to get UL, and if the cost to make the quality/safety measures is too expensive, you go the ETL route.

If you care about speed you submit to ETL. If you care about safety and lawsuits down the road, you go with UL. It's almost like comparing this as the special olympics vs the regular olympics. They both are technically olympics.

As someone who manufactures to UL and ETL standards let me say once again, there is a big difference. Why do people keep posting this nonsense. The testing for UL is brutal compared to ETL.

Great price. Bought 14 from the local HD so I can replace my older, bulkier ones in my house - I'll have to go pick them up later today/tomorrow.

I agree. These are the safest bet. They also won't attract the kids as much, especially after a week or so once they've grown bored of the new item.

Outside of the color option on these new ones (IDK who'd opt for a colored nightlight...), but anyways, these new ones seem like they'd be less apt to being knocked off the wall by the kids or yourself as they don't look like they stick out as much.

Well red light IS better for night vision.

I've always gone for these night lights [walmart.com]. They're a little more expensive @ $2 each, but the benefit here is that they can angle down. You can remove the little plastic shell on the top and turn it upside down. This helps just illuminate walkways or sinks and doesn't shine directly into your eyes.

I've literally used these for more than 20 years.
I have bunch of these all over the home and they are easy, simple and no-nonsense little lights working for years.

I just picked mine up. I was surprised to see the plate included. I guess I didn't read the description close enough. If using the tamper resistant piece, it is simply a piece of plastic like blister packaging products come in. It is not substantial but would serve its purpose. The package says you can use the new plate or use with existing plate. I am planning on using only the nightlight portion as I am not worried about tampering.

Keep us updated once you open the package and if you can just use the light without the plate? I mean just take the light and plug into any existing power outlet?
Also let us know if you liked the product?

So you'll be in charge of that process for all the potential buyers? LMAO2

If only things were so simple as to expect 100% of the user base to do the right thing. Sadly that isn't possible thus why we have warning labels labels on hot coffee explaining it is "hot. Heck, if misusing products wasn't an issue then the concept of "Tamper-Resistant" would not even exist.

Please note I'm not saying this is a world ending issue but a pretty silly design choice. Like putting a photo of a candy bar on a bottle of aspirin. 'Just don't put it near your toddler' is not a "problem solved" type solution.

I just picked it up from Home Depot and I didn't realize that it comes with a wall plate as well. I didn't even read the entire description. LMAO

At the end of the day it is just another plug in night light. Your concern applies not just for this product, but for all night lights in general. The Tamper resistant cap is just a thin plastic like those used in water bottles. It will prevent a child from pulling the night light from the outlet. I don't see a difference between the soft white and bright white setting.

You can just plug the light in like any nightlight to any outlet. Selling with the plate seems like a waste. The Home Depot description says high and low but I cant seem to adjust the brightness. I have plugged two in so far but will wait to night for an honest review. For $1.50 I am not disappointed.

True but I do agree with the other person this does scream "hey look at me" a little more than a plain white light In the colored setting that is). I doubt anyone will die but might be worth considering if someone did have small kids.

Perfect I need a few lights to replace my wall outlet lights that broke and all importantly need to add lights to behind the entertainment center for when I need to look back there to trace wires, move, replug or plug in things. Was looking for plug outlets with lights but this fits the bill better and can help with spacing in-between multiple plugged cords.

So color changing lights to draw little ones to it 😄. Glade is tamper resistant 😂
they don't change color. you can set it to one of the multiple color options. I have one of these, and it is not easy for little ones to change the colors.

there is a high white and low white "color". press the button and cycle colors to find the low white.

you can use it without the plate. the plate is to make it "tamper resistant" since there is a transparent cover that goes on top of the light that will not work with your regular wall plate because of the added thickness and shape.

Reviewer said it has light sensor. Can someone confirm it will turn off when light is on?
Yes, there is a sensor because it is a night light. They should add night light to the title so it doesn't confuse other as to what it really is.

I've had these for about eight years now. Too bright for some locations but you can paint the acrylic hood to mask some light.
