For anyone who would like to remove the permissions you granted for this deal, go here: https://myaccount.google.com/connections

Then, look for an entry called "gweb-play-points-app"

You can remove the permissions by clicking on the entry, then at the bottom you click on "Delete all connections you have with gweb-play-points-app"

Ok, I chatted with support and rep said that the 40% off requires you to be at gold level for at least 10 days before it will work. This promo is good until 12/31. The trade-in values and current google store discounts are supposed to remain the same until 12/31 so I guess you can wait 10 days and get this deal without losing on any current deals.

Google doesn't let promos stack. This will be off the MSRP and not their current ongoing discount.

You can also have a Google One subscription, that gives you gold. However, I am not seeing anything in my perks besides for the weekly free points.

Edit edit: Firebase is owned by Google, so it is in the same eco-system. Still a strange way to offer a deal with the account access, but this deal is through Google, or at least an owned subsidiary.

Edit: this is not through Google, if you click on the link and select redeem it wants to provide access to a domain called firebaseapp.com, which according to ICANN isn't Google owned, just hosted.
It's a Google cloud platform service for web/mobile app development

Just a heads up: the cashback site that starts with an R is now at 6% (normally 2%) it's highest in a year.

Can confirm, just ordered the Pixel 8 and it went from $699 to $419.40, instead of their current sale price of $599. So the deal doesn't stack, but it's an even better discount nonetheless. Also went and removed the 3rd party permissions for FireBase App immediately after purchase via the https://myaccount.google.com/connections?pli=1 page. Glad I found this thread, as I literally had the phone in the cart and was about to checkout when I search for and found this promo.

For those of you looking into this to determine if it is a scam, look up the WHOIS on firebaseapp.com and play.withgoogle.com. This is Google via MarkMonitor, LLC Registrar. MarkMonitor is an industry leader in enterprise brand management and protection against counterfeiting. If you're tech/security minded, you can dive down the rabbit hole via https://mxtoolbox.com/whois.aspx and https://talosintelligence.com/reputation_center/ .
The firebaseapp.com domain belonging to Google is NOT evidence that this is legit. Firebase is a hosting platform (among other things). Anyone can create an app hosted on Firebase and have a URL with that as the root domain.

The withgoogle.com domain being owned by Google is more meaningful as a positive signal. In any case, as others have reported, this promo works and seems to be legit, but this is still very irresponsible behavior from Google. They're effectively training people to be more susceptible to phishing attacks. The Editor Notes here are dangerous and suggest that Firebase domains alone indicate that Google runs the site.

Examples of some random apps on firebase domains that are obviously not Google and instead from random devs:

https://react-quick-food.firebaseapp.com/
https://movies-finder.firebaseapp.com/
https://electrofocus-website.firebaseapp.com
https://devmarizer.firebaseapp.com/

I would plead with people to maintain a strong sense of skepticism. I could spin up my own site under a domain like "promosbygoogle.com" and host a firebase app that does nothing other than steal information. Sure, the new domain here wouldn't appear to be from Google, but the Firebase domain would. Please don't let that be all you need to see to trust something.

Refund. You have to have your device sent in and inspected first prior to receiving the refund.

Dang! Would've loved the extra 4%. Any chance R would adjust a previous purchase to the new cash back rate?

I have two different accounts, one of them is Gold because its attached to YouTube TV but my normal account is being used for my Google Fi account. Are you able to activate the phone if its not with the same account?

Thank you for catching my error. When I did the WHOIS lookup, I managed to associate both with Google. You are correct that this really should be wholey ran through Google sites and services instead of 3rd party, as it is training people to fall for phishing attacks. Deal is valid, but they definitely went about it the wrong way. Good catch and thank you for the call out.

Did this work? Did you do the 9.99 monthly?
Upgraded to the 2TB plan two days ago, enabled to Gold in the app a few minutes later. As of this morning, I'm still getting the "If you recently reached Gold+ level, you will be eligible for this offer in a few days" prompt when attempting to buy.

Good deal, customer service couldn't price match it for me after I bought it one from them last week. I tried elevating it but they still couldn't give me the difference.
Just started my return and purchased a new one. If it was just a few dollars I wouldn't bother but roughly a $250 difference.

I left the Samsung phone ecosystem last year. Just note, if you get the Pixel then trade-in value will suck at Samsung if you want to go back.
Thanks. I pulled the trigger on the 256gb pro. Pretty sure when the S24 launches the trade-in value of my s21 will tank.

Also the official 8 pro case is on sale at amazon. $5 cheaper than the google store price.
