Edit edit: Firebase is owned by Google, so it is in the same eco-system. Still a strange way to offer a deal with the account access, but this deal is through Google, or at least an owned subsidiary.
Edit: this is not through Google, if you click on the link and select redeem it wants to provide access to a domain called firebaseapp.com, which according to ICANN isn't Google owned, just hosted.
For those of you looking into this to determine if it is a scam, look up the WHOIS on firebaseapp.com and play.withgoogle.com. This is Google via MarkMonitor, LLC Registrar. MarkMonitor is an industry leader in enterprise brand management and protection against counterfeiting. In any case, as others have reported, this promo works and seems to be legit, but this is still very irresponsible behavior from Google.
