For anyone who would like to remove the permissions you granted for this deal, go here: https://myaccount.google.com/connections

Then, look for an entry called "gweb-play-points-app"

You can remove the permissions by clicking on the entry, then at the bottom you click on "Delete all connections you have with gweb-play-points-app"

Ok, I chatted with support and rep said that the 40% off requires you to be at gold level for at least 10 days before it will work. This promo is good until 12/31. The trade-in values and current google store discounts are supposed to remain the same until 12/31 so I guess you can wait 10 days and get this deal without losing on any current deals.

Google doesn't let promos stack. This will be off the MSRP and not their current ongoing discount.

I did the $2.49 2TB plan on Saturday morning (EDT) and immediately saw the play gold show up in the benefits tab of the app but it made me wait 3 days to claim it (yesterday). The 40% redeem showed up in my play store app today but it does not work yet. Assuming it will work by tomorrow or in the next few days.

Even I have the same thing, I got the 40% today but I am not seeing the benefit on the web page after clicking OPS link or the link in my banner, Guess you need to wait for a day or two minimum

Very strange of Google to not just let people have the 40% redemption right away. You would think they would want people to put in their orders right away and get their phones faster so Google can start selling their data faster to make a quick buck.

Here's the deal, at the 2TB tier you get 10% Google store credit (about $40-60 depending on what you buy). If you want the credit, you have to wait for until 30 days after the product ships (basically past the return window) before it registers to your account. If you don't care about the credit you can technically cancel right after you get the product. If you bought a Pixel 8 Pro then $60 is a nice deal since you can get the wireless charging stand for $20, which is a good deal. (The stand is good enough that someone stole it off my desk at work!)
