Saw some people asking about the credit timing, and I can confirm mine hit the day after my order. I upgraded to 2TB One on 12/09 and was able to enable the Gold perk via mobile app within five minutes. I became eligible for the discount yesterday (12/13) and placed my order. I got an email this morning (12/14) letting me know the credit was added to my account and available for use (expires in 365 days). I'm going to downgrade back to the 100GB One plan as soon as the trade-in credit hits my credit card.
I've upgraded through the Google store in late Nov to mid Dec the last three years, and getting ~$40 I can use toward next year's upgrade is pretty great, so I'll probably start temporarily upgrading my One plan during that time.
I'm generally a fan of the Pixel phones but thought the 7 was a relatively weak model -- had a lot of problems with overheating, the fingerprint sensor was a big step down from the dedicated reader on my P5, and the screen quality paled in comparison IMO. Reviews suggest that the 8 is an improvement, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed or I might have to look into a different brand.
