first, my newly activated trial google one from my p8p did not yield the gold upgrade, even after 4 days (so far). [i asked about this earlier but no one had the experience.] moreover, i was not able to cancel and pay to resubscribe on my desired account. but luckily i have other google accounts to use.
so today, given the good success rates of most people here, i pulled the trigger on a 2.49 google one on a different account. it showed the gold upgrade, but i need to wait 3 days for that. unfortunately, i was not able to get it to trigger earlier by going to google play, as some members here have experienced. but 3 days for gold + 10 days max for the coupon is still in advance of the dec 31 expiration, so i should be in decent shape.
will continue to report as i get more details.
