I received an email earlier today from T-Mobile saying that one of my lines (which currently has an iPhone XR) was eligible to upgrade to a new 5G phone for free to better take advantage of the network. I am on the Simple Choice North America Promo plan with several free lines so this seems like it must apply to a lot of plans.

The fine print in the email (see images in link) made it seem like it was limited to just the Moto G 5G (meh), so I reached out to T-Force via Twitter to ask if any other phones qualified. They confirmed that the iPhone SE 3rd Gen, Nokia G310, Nord 300, and REVVL 6/6X also qualified, but that you had to complete the transaction in store.

I had to go to the mall tonight so stopped by the T-Mobile store after confirming that my account was annotated and the SE was in stock and was able to upgrade to the 128GB black model for the $35 support fee and tax. Bill credits seem to be in process.

You may want to reach out to T-Force to confirm and have them annotate your account as that definitely helped at the store.

I was able to take advantage of the June 2022 deal for another line that had an old iPhone on it so it's been nice to get a couple upgrades for the kiddos.

Hope this helps a few people.

Too much trouble for an SE iPhone. But, it's good if you can get it.

Would love to get this deal. Am on the One plan with one of my lines using a 6s Plus. My partner has the One 55+ plan with one line still using an iPhone 6. Neither of us received an email though. The iPhone 6 especially needs to be upgraded since it no longer receives iOS updates. Since this is a spare line we just haven't gotten around to upgrading. The SE would be perfect for our needs. Any suggestions for trying to get this without having received the email?

I've just had some old iPhone 5C phones sitting on spare lines.
Did you get the offer?

I had the offer two times this year, it's been an ongoing offer for awhile.

Well, I got the email as in the OP and I have the segment noted on my line (iPhone 8), but I've been to three T-Mobile (corporate) stores and been declined by all three. (To be fair, two of them said they needed a manager who wasn't available.) The last, though, said that even with the promotion they couldn't offer the iPhone SE for $0, only one of the low-end Android phones (Moto, Revvl, Nokia, Nord) or a discount of a hundred-something bucks on the SE.

Edit: I also chatted with T-Force online and they said I didn't qualify for the iPhone SE promotion, just the Android phones.

Ugh... this is the part that scares me... someone will change my awesome grandfathered plan while telling me "everything is the same, no worries"
When I was on simple choice I had the same fear. I let nobody but T-Force touch anything.

If you have a grandfathered plan, like I do, the store rep said I won't get any targeted promotions. She said only plans that pay more will get it. So unless I leave t-mobile, I won't get any promotions.
You will get targeted promos, just much less than newer plans. Keep in mind most store reps are clueless.

My 5c lines got the other promo, where you just walk in and walk out with free phones. No EIP, no tax, nothing.

They have to call in to their support line. At least that is what happened when I got the 2 SEs on the 2G/3G retirement offer.

Technically, but not really. Does it matter though? I was just saying I've had what is essentially the same offer twice before. It is all for the 2G retirement, same terms, same deal.

The other offer was a free phone, no EIP, no trade in, no taxes and no bill credits. You could just cancel, walk away whatever. This is 24 month bill credits, possible trade in required, plus taxes. So, it is very different.

This has NOTHING to do with 2G retirement. This is for non-5G phones. 4G phones qualify under this targeted promotion. I had 2 lines targeted under the 2G retirement and 3 4G phones targeted under this offer.

Hmmm, I must have missed something in the OP originally then, yes you are right. I don't recall it having as much info as it did before.
