this has good reviews on amazon, should be fine
I searched for the same model (SDSSDE29-2T00-AW25) but I couldn't find that model on amazon. Can you provide the link to the model you were looking at?

I can't find anything on the western digital/sandisk website for this model. Is this just really old? Also, Walmart seems to be the only place that sells it. Do they put a different model number on it when sold by walmart only?

The one on Amazon has a different model # SDSSDE30-2T00-G26 and also is rated a bit faster at up to 800MB/s read. There is also a previous generation model # SDSSDE30-2T00-G25 rated at 520MB/s read. What gives me pause is that the newer one says it has updated firmware, implying that the previous gen had problems. Also, if you read rhe 1 star reviews there are reports of failures with both versions. It is looking likely that I'll be returning this one from Walmart.

So they can learn to pick themselves back up.

We have 2 of these that have been constantly used with no issues.

I'm not saying it's fail proof, but YMMV on a lot of the drives out there.

With that said... If anyone would want to comment on great alternatives at a nice price please do!

I need something to sit on my desk with a ton of storage and something to take in my photo bag on the go. Thanks ahead of time!

Why is it sandisk keeps cutting corners to save a buck only to have it blow up in their face? Leave that to Team Group and Seagate!

Do you have this exact model because it seems that Sandisk sells several similar models with speeds ranging from 500 mb/s to 800 mb/s with model numbers that are similar but not the same as this one? From what I've seen, this is either an older model or one that is only sold by walmart.

Just curious.

If you do go external NVME then pick an enclosure that has a heatsink externally exposed like these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CFXS4KNC since overheating seems to be the main point of failure with them.

Allright, I bought one.

I know the possible problems I am getting into.... But I need a portable drive right now, and nothing on it will be precious that isn't backed up...

I blew it by missing some of the Black Friday deals, as I just had my main portable drive fail last week, but I recognize this thing is not to be trusted most likely and will approach it as so...

I hope that it isn't a problem. But I recognize it's on me if it is...

I will be monitoring this site for decent deals on 4TB portable SSD's and larger (16ish+ tb) hdd's in the meantime...

So you're saying this isn't the drive we want, but the one we deserve.
