one concern I have is that the unit seems a little finicky trying to power back up after it goes to sleep or is shut down. not sure how, if all, that can be resolved (unless this is considered 'normal' behavior)

1) Cover "manufacturer refurbished" items that come with a warranty.
2) Will add a year (sometimes more) AFTER a COMBINATION of manufacturer PLUS extended warranties expire.
*CAREFULLY CHECK EXACT VERBIAGE of credit card extended warranties as they VARY GREATLY AND/OR IN SUBTLE WAYS, even on different credit cards from same bank.
*Make sure you're reading correct card benefits guide with full extended warranty contract/terms for your particular card's benefits package (e.g. Mastercard "Elite" vs. "World Elite" vs. "Platinum", etc.).
*There can be somewhat of a gray area when it comes to credit card extended warranties on "manufacturer refurbished" purchases, so you can call card bank's extended warranty line (often a separate administrator), possibly get them to email you response, and keep that response in your files.
on the sleeping thing, that is a OS issue not the laptop. MS has always be hit or miss with their sleep, hibernate, etc. its a "feature" you just have to deal with.
How does this compare to the Dell Inspiron 15 3535 Laptop: Ryzen 5 7530U, 15.6" FHD Touch, 8GB DDR4, 512GB?
I have both but didn't open the Dell yet.

Dell is better. I should have bought two of those.
