UPDATE (Dec 13):
It seems that they might not be doing the daily free games as expected, as the next free game is available in 7 days from the Dec 13 one (available on Wed, Dec 20). Based on the following information, they say there will be 17 free games available during the Epic Games Store Holiday Sale.
On this Epic Games Store Holiday Sale page [epicgames.com], it states the following in different places on the page:

It appears that Epic Games [epicgames.com] may start another year of daily free mystery games for approximately 15 days in the latter half of December. The first free mystery game will be revealed on Wednesday, December 13 (11am ET, 10am CT, 9am MT, 8am PT).
These are usually only available for 24 hours, so set a reminder so you don't miss them. In the past, this ran from Dec 15-29 in 2022 and from Dec 16-30 in 2021.
Note that this is unconfirmed but is expected based on prior years and the fact that the next free game is a wrapped mystery game that starts on a Wednesday instead of the normal Thursday. There are also articles out there talking about it. If you normally check on Thursdays, you'll miss the first one.

I remember Bloons TD6 being one that I didn't scoop up, and later bought on Steam, and then later later Epic had it for free again haha

On Friday, I logged in on Chrome without SD's link to check on something else with my account and got that message. Caused a bit of a panic because I purchased over 9000 in games and content. But logging in on another browser, no problems.
Actually, now that I think about it, Chrome has been acting buggy for months earlier. I would have to log back into my accounts at this and other software stores often days later. Did a reinstall of Chrome but that didn't work. Just a strange thing that happened this year, I guess.
They've been uploading the cutscenes form the previous seasons to youtube recently in an effort to keep folks current, but it isn't quite the same as playing it live.
I do think it's worth playing the Legacy Collection though, because there's some good content in there. D2's onboarding process is still pretty bad, but they finally have an in-game LFG (technically in beta), which should help a ton.

Edit: It's possible it still works though, but officially, MS killed it.
I use to begrudgingly laugh at this joke until I got a steam deck. If Im not at the PC desk, it's the steam deck on the couch. Backlog killer. And yes I will be saving some women for the rest of you guys. I'm not selfish.
That is said I think they also started the Christmas sale early today and have a 33% off coupon for free.
For example Hogwartz Legacy is 24 after coupon. Not bad IMO.
Alan Wake 2 for 26.79 is also not bad for a new release.
I'd give them credit at least on the store sales even though the free games aren't very interesting at the moment/recently.
