The battery in that kit would last about 90 seconds under load lol
Even if that statement were true the kits are still a better deal.
Some version of it is always on sale for $99 w/ Tool, Battery, Charger & Bag.
Hunt around most kits are 1.5Ah but some are 2Ah or even 3Ah.
The 2Ah Kit was $89 itself recently.

DCS356C1 for $99.99 at Murdoch's. In-store only get a "free compact battery", while supplies last.

For someone who doesn't have a multi-tool but hears they're useful, how much better is the Dewalt vs the Ryobi that HD is giving away free with 4ah+2ah battery kit purchase?

If you will not be using them every day or very often both will work fine.

I'd get the ryobi. Good deal.

The DeWalt multi-tool is way better than the Ryobi or the M12 Milwaukee from my experience. World's better.

the trigger based variable control is very user friendly when needing to go from getting a cut started precisely to full send.

This Ryobi bundle does not include the brushless version. The brushless version cost $130 tool only. Keep that in consideration if you are are getting the bundle with the batteries.

I got the $99 bundle. Surprisingly they made the release handle out of plastic, not metal.

Appreciate all the feedback on the Dewalt vs Ryobi. Another difference seems to be that the Ryobi requires an allen wrench to change attachments. So in addition to the trigger control and bring brushless as everyone pointed out above, I definitely see that the Dewalt is a better tool. But I think the Ryobi will probably be fine for me for "free"

Most used tool in my kit as a home owner / diy rennovator after the drill / impact driver. Just used it to scrape up old glue off a subfloor and cut door trim to fit the new flooring under.

Only you'll be able to determine that. I've put the dewalt through the paces and it shows up to the fight each time.

Also, if you're buying tools, get the brushless version or your future self will regret it.
