Death Stranding was one of them. They mistakenly let the Director's Cut out for free for the first lucky few who claimed right away, most likely a mistake on Epic's part. After that, it was the base standard edition for everyone else.
Epic Games gives one or two free games every week throughout the year. This is a special daily freebie that is expected to start on Dec 13. Go to the link in the post (or the Epic Games home page), log into your account, and you'll see the free games in the section that currently shows GigaBash & Predecessor with a mystery game showing for Dec 13. That's where the limited-time free games show up. There are other games that are always free-to-play on that page as well, but look for the ones that are temporarily free. Make sure to claim the games while they're free, and they'll be added to your game library to keep.
Thanks for the heads up. I usually check in their weekly so adding the daily check to my calendar. I have really been enjoying Earthlock. Probably the best free game I've played. When I started I didn't think I'd like it but it's pretty fun.

I remember Bloons TD6 being one that I didn't scoop up, and later bought on Steam, and then later later Epic had it for free again haha
So balloons td is the best game they gave away? I (an others) learned back in the day when I scooped up everything free on SD that it became a real chore to have 10000 of the freebie games in each of my accounts. I still have to spend time trying to find games I'd actually play. I just stick to 2 video games partially because of it

It's a fun game, also on mobile phones with cross platform progress, and it stood out to me because I got into the game months later.
Death Stranding was one of the more " AAA " offerings I can remember.
With Steam's impending lockout I've stopped buying and adjusted my spending habits to other platforms. Epic, and more so GOG, have retaken their position as my platform of choice. DRM free should be the way of the future, but being in publishing I can understand why it isn't catching on.
Ah well, Epic's had some excellent deal, so I look forward to this. I just wish they'd open user end comments and reviews like Steam and GOG.
Then again, Steam doesn't have giveaways like the other two.

What are you talking about? Zero news of anything on any sites I've found. Care to elaborate on this impending steam lockout with sources? Seems like it would be a big deal?

Just a guess, but maybe this is relating to Steam's announcement that as of Jan 1, 2024, the Steam client will no longer be supported on Windows 7 & 8, so people with those operating systems might lose access to their Steam libraries unless they upgrade their operating systems. See this link[steampowered.com]. Or maybe it's something else.
EDIT: This comment was to provide info that I assumed someone was referring to. If your interested, read the article; otherwise, let's keep on the topic of the Epic Games mystery games.

Microsoft is ending support for Windows 8 and hence no more security patches and such will be made for those OS. It makes 0 business sense to keep supporting those Operating systems. That is NOT what "Lockdown" means. If anything Steam is the most Open platform as you can use your compatible gaming library in Mac, Windows and Linux. And with that said you can even port your Epics game library to Steam OS and play your compatible games on a Steamdeck.

Windows 7 support for Microsoft ended January of 2020 and Win 8 ended January of this year.
Why would steam continue to support old operating systems?

No, they had a lot of variety.
Them's Fightin Herds, horizon chase turbo, sable, one of the dishonored games. I'm sure there is a list somewhere.

LOL. People running windows 7 or 8 should have their entire computer locked out. Unless you're playing games on computers running legacy apps for ICS / SCADA systems you've got no reason to be on those OS. And if it's a money thing, then they've got other problems and shouldn't be buying games.

Look how great you have learned the corporate 'Murica lesson to always buy the latest and greatest regardless of your needs. Did you also started holding your phone differently when Steve Jobs told you "you are holding it wrong?"
Thank you for supporting the economy.
P.S. Microsoft once said W10 is the last OS version of Windows. What happened there?

Thanks for the reminder. I usually check on Thursday so I would've missed Wednesday's free game. I just hope that many of these won't be repeated games.
