Death Stranding was one of them. They mistakenly let the Director's Cut out for free for the first lucky few who claimed right away, most likely a mistake on Epic's part. After that, it was the base standard edition for everyone else.
Epic Games gives one or two free games every week throughout the year. This is a special daily freebie that is expected to start on Dec 13. Go to the link in the post (or the Epic Games home page), log into your account, and you'll see the free games in the section that currently shows GigaBash & Predecessor with a mystery game showing for Dec 13. That's where the limited-time free games show up. There are other games that are always free-to-play on that page as well, but look for the ones that are temporarily free. Make sure to claim the games while they're free, and they'll be added to your game library to keep.
I guess I just got some details jumbled. Had an reminder in my phone for yesterday, so I just assumed Destiny was the first of many. Thanks for the reply
It shouldn't be a money thing either because I am under the impression any Windows 7 and Windows 8 product key should activate a Windows 10 or 11 install. I mean this worked for me last year to upgrade my Windows to 11 Pro.
Some of us have peripheral devices that were sort of expensive which do not run past Windows 7 due to non-upped drivers and legacy connections. I still have a system with 7, although it's not my main system.
I just did this last night, I added the base game to epic and then the legacy edition. Once it starts to download it will download destiny 2 on epic launcher. If you use Steam, you won't be able to access the legacy edition from Epic so I activated cross save feature so my characters are available on all the platforms. After that I uninstalled the game on Steam since I don't need it to be both platform (and to delete 100gb on Steam). Started destiny 2 on Epic and my characters and stuff were there with the new edition. Hope this helps; it was a little confusing. Oh, if the game doesn't launch on Epic, you will need to go delete the epic launcher cache, after that it will delete. Google how to do so online, it's pretty simple. Enjoy.
I don't even know if this is worth the hassle... but thank you so much for explaining the process.

The original post was predicting the daily freebies to begin on Dec 13 (which was a prediction in several gaming forums/threads), as the Dec 13 freebie was the first gift-wrapped one, and the freebie went live one day sooner than normal. It seems that it doesn't start until Dec 20. When this deal post was converted by Slickdeals Admin to a Frontpage deal, it was changed to focus only on the Dec 13 freebie (Destiny 2: Legacy Collection). That might be where the confusion came from. So set a reminder for Dec 20, which is also a Wednesday.

I remember Bloons TD6 being one that I didn't scoop up, and later bought on Steam, and then later later Epic had it for free again haha
