That is entirely the point. They don't make anything on these; they want you in the store.

Several DG don't allow credit cards to be used for gift cards. I have ran into this since I buy 15% off Lowes every year on Thanksgiving Day. I bring cash for backup.
I had this happen during last month GC sale for Uber, Taco Bell, Jersey mikes card all sold at 20%. I thought they would be all sold out but had tons in stock. Of course cashier insisted cash only. I said heck no. I don't carry $500 cash for all the GC I bought. So they paged a manager and I explained. She told me to buy $100 increments for gift cards and I used different CC to buy them in between their other customers transactions to avoid their system flagging. And they all worked seamless. All depends on each store. I went to two different stores and had same experience.

Thanks! Does anyone know if you can still buy Steam gift cards with Gamestop gift cards? Trying to find a small Steam Deck OLED discount.
No. You can NOT do this any longer.

15% here. Gonna be like BF in a dollar store. Bringing my shottie with me, prolly a knife for backup. Do they allow pitties as companion dogs anyone know?
The regular patrons of these stores carry protection on any given day. And those people aren't even in there for the gift cards. They'll kill you over a carton of milk.

Allegedly they ended this in November. I have not tested this since, but it always worked for me until this point.

Nope, negative, completely incorrect
Last month Gamestop stopped taking their giftcards towards the purchase of any online currency (Nintendo, Steam, PS, Xbox etc), the use of points towards the purchase of these and also starting Dec 1 they stopped taking their $5 monthly pro coupon towards them

Considering a lot of people have not purchased disc version of last gen. game consoles, I think it's fair to say moving forward GS wants their customers spending most of their funds purchasing funko pops and similar crap
I did this earlier this month by adding the GameStop gift card to my Google wallet. He scanned it and entered the pin. And I got my steam code on the receipt. Have you had personal experience this month with it not working?

Just double checking: December right? I thought November was the last month, but if it still works in December, I'm off to Dollar General and Gamestop

December 6th. The gift card I added to my Google wallet was a virtual gc. I did not mention anything about how I was paying until they had already rung it up. I wanted to make sure they were at the "well we can try" point. GL!

BTW: What is the difference between a "virtual gift card" and a physical one (besides the obvious)? Is the numbering the same with the code? I have a physical one that I added to my google pay account, but am wondering the difference. Hopefully these physical ones work in the same way as your "virtual one."

We tried swiping this physical card for a Google Play card and it didn't work

I don't know if there's a difference. Just trying to give you as many details as I have from my experience. The employee scanned my Google wallet barcode of the gift card and asked for the pin.

In order to provide the pin, on your phone screen with the barcode, you click the 3 dots in the top right, and that will then show the pin

Will someone please let me know the dollar limit to the gift card amount you can buy? I'm interested in the gamestop gift card.

Does not look to include steam gift cards. It's never steam. The only deal I saw on a steam card was at Sam's, 5% off. $20 for $18.97 or something. When does Costco do their 20% off Xbox, Nintendo, and PlayStation cards?
