It is an Internet gateway with FW/IPS/NAT and a switch all in one (no WiFI). This gets you into the Ubiquiti system with its ability to manage other Ubiquiti devices centrally. It is what many would consider prosumer networking gear since you are using a separate Internet gateway, access points, POE switches, etc.

Came here to post this! I picked up a UDMP for the same price (during their BF sale) and couldn't be happier.

Other great offers:

I picked this up for me and my sister's house during bf and replaced our old usg. Download the backup file, turn on the udm and used the mobile app to register the machine. After that I was able to upload the backup file from my phone and everything works great. Remember if you are using a unifi cloud client for your unifi device, make sure to shut that down or else udm won't be able to auto see the devices. Speed is very stable compared to usg.

Title should be updated to reflect $279 as the price. As it stands, it says "$100 off $279" which would make the price $179.

Can anyone who has one answer whether there is an access control list? Want to use whitelist mode (deny all, allow those on list) and the MAIN question is if that list can be modified with a mobile phone or tablet app instead of a computer? We want to be able to add users to the "allow" list while mobile.
By device, or by user? By user, I think so. By device, absolutely.

Also shipping is $10 which is not stated anywhere in the deal.

By device (MAC address). That list can be edited/managed via an iPhone or Android app?

Anyone has any experience with their doorbell or security camera?
Was considering a new doorbell as my Amcrest just died. This video helped:

Pretty underwhelming considering the price.

That's an over simplified explanation for n00bs.

You can't control your dreams without capturing them first. If you don't have an effective dream catcher, this product is useless.

Thanks - do you need any of their other gear for this to work, or can it work by itself?
You'll need some form of storage, and I think POE+.

I use the CloudKey+ since I just have one camera and an 802.3at injector to kill the unpowered alerts. If memory serves, it was a fairly recent update that made it incompatible with my US-8-60W (802.3af).

The SE is a better machine.
Not necessarily at the price point they are at.$279 vs $499. There are only a few differences in the hardware. The SE has POE ports, and SSD harddrive if you use their cameras along with 2.5GB WAN port. That is it from what I understand. If you don't plan on using these features the Pro is a better buy. For example in my situation I don't have their cameras and have a 16 port POE switch already for my AP's. My internet is capped at 1gig and have no reason to go about that for now.

Never said it wasn't a better buy - just that it's a better machine.

Are they coming out with a new one, or what's the reason for the substantial drop?

Replaced my USG-3 with a UDM-Pro in the last 2 weeks. Saw a throughput increase from ~600 mbps to ~950 mbps on a 1 gbps fiber line. Did a direct transfer from offsite remote backup into Network restore, no other settings changed. Very, very pleased.
Exact same experience with upgrading from USG. I did not have IDS/IPS enabled on my USG though but throughput and overall experience has been better on the UDM-Pro.

Only issue I have is my USW-Flex-Mini shows going down every 3 days between 1 am and 3 am in the system logs. Yet the device it self shows Uptime 6d 20h 55m 57s
Raised a ticket with support as I never experienced this with my USG setup.

Is there a big performance bump if going from a usg4pro+cloudkeyg2+ ? Assuming cost is not an issue

flex minis are trash for me so far. Currently all working but I will be replacing them with flexes as I find them cheap. Are you POE'ing them? I had one that stopped being so shitty after I used usb-c instead.

Someone give me a reason to move from an Edgerouter 4 to this. Home use, 1gig fiber, 3x Unifi AC Lites, 48-port GbE switch.

I am not disagreeing the SE is better. What I am saying is the added hardware features may not be needed by all. Hence the better buy for $220 less for this UDM pro.
